A Study on the mathematics textbooks in the era of the Great Han Empire
This paper aims to make a whole list of the mathematics textbooks in the era of the Great Han Empire and summerize bibliographical data and linguistic characteristics in view of Korean history. In chapter 1, the author reviewed former studies which deals with the mathematics textbooks in the era of the Great Han Empire. In chapter 2, the author summerized bibliographical data of 45 volumes of 32 kinds textbooks. In chapter 3, the author described linguistic characteristics of the textbooks, especially focusing on writing systems, the use of Arabic numerals, horizontal writing, and presence of index or glossary
Also By The Same Author: AKTiveAuthor, a Citation Graph Approach to Name Disambiguation
The desire for definitive data and the semantic web drive for inference over heterogeneous data sources requires co-reference resolution to be performed on those data. In particular, name disambiguation is required to allow accurate publication lists, citation counts and impact measures to be determined. This paper describes a graph-based approach to author disambiguation on large-scale citation networks. Using self-citation, co-authorship and document source analyses, AKTiveAuthor clusters papers, achieving precision of 0.997 and recall of 0.818 over a test group of eight surname clusters

Dynamic Text: Exploring the Relation Between Text Features and Human Emotions
Computer-mediated communication (CMC) allows people to interact with each other using various mediums such as text, images, videos, etc. Previous studies have shown that conveying one’s emotion can be difficult in virtual communication due to the lack of non-verbal cues, which often act as crucial components for human emotion during face-to-face interaction. However, Social Information Processing (SIP) theory suggests that text-based CMC has the capacity to convey emotional and social context through verbal cues by facilitating additional information for overcoming the absence of non-verbal cues presented during face-to-face communication. Based on this theory, many studies identify strategies for adapting text-based emotional cues to express feelings in such settings. There has been an ongoing effort to categorize emotional cues in CMC into verbal (e.g., direct emotional words) and nonverbal (e.g., vocal spelling) ones in a multitude of research. One study demonstrates the use of lexical surrogates and altered vocal spellings as potential strategies for emotional expression in text communication. Previous studies also showed different mappings of non-verbal textual symbols to basic human emotion to explore their potential for effective and emotionally rich communication through manipulating textual cues during CMC. Overall, there have been studies that showed supported experiments that manipulation of textual cues has the potential to facilitate effective, emotionally rich communication, leading CMC to serve as a valued medium for both information exchange and emotional sharing. However, despite the continued effort to find a correlation between emotion and text, most of the previous studies have not been able to provide a significant relationship between the two factors without supplying a concrete scientific basis. Therefore, the current research aimed to explore how the manipulation of textual cues affects human emotion and, specifically, which emotions are associated with different text features to which extent by utilizing a more refined and methodological approach that led to an objective and scientific conclusion. The experiment was designed based on the application of Kansei Engineering as the methodological framework, which aims to measure and translate perceived human emotion to quantifiable values. While applying this method, two stages of online surveys and analysis were conducted to assess participants' perceptions of text features. Key findings highlight the effects of Noteworthy font in italics on vibrancy, spacing on comfort, Times New Roman font and boldness on harmony, and its combination with letter case on happiness. The type of font is shown to affect modernness, and Arial font with spacing relates to confidence. Regarding general preferences, Times New Roman in sentence case was most preferred, while in uppercase, it was least preferred. The findings can provide clarity on the way certain text features trigger unique emotional reactions, with potential applications for enhancing the user experience in text-driven virtual environments.Master of Science (MS)Human Centered Design and Engineering, College of Engineering & Computer ScienceUniversity of Michiganhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/193010/1/Han_Thesis_Dynamic_Text.pdff8405f0d-6e0a-4b63-83ba-7887953c9151Description of Han_Thesis_Dynamic_Text.pdf : Thesi
Corvèe under Han
The author distinguishes between the corvee systems of Ch'in and Han. In spite of the fact that the corvee system underwent a marked change in 167 B. C. in the reign of Emperor Wen of Former Han, the fact has been hitherto almost entirely overlooked. The author tries to reconstruct the Ch'in corvee system from various sources. In the sense that these two ancient empires were despotic in their constitution there was no essential difference between their system of government, but Han succeeded in melting feudalistic residues of the Chan-kuo period into her own system, while Ch'in failed in doing so due to the short period of her rule. Moreover, Ch'in failed in taking local differences into consideration in establishing her institutions. In the author's view the reign of Emperor Wen is significant in the sense that it represents renovation of the feudalistic taxation system and of the uniform and artificial system of local administration

Inah has been having nightmares. Nightmares of fish bones, fractals, and a marriage that ended under some unnamed violence. Walking the night streets with a man she has known for years, whose feelings for her are bound up with his intense longing to live as a woman, the fragile bond of their relationship threatens to shatter. Internationally acclaimed author Han Kang directs her unflinching gaze on the painful complexities of damage and recovery, questioning what it is we want from ourselves and each other, and whether there are some things that are truly irreparable

The Legacy of Ulrich Beck in Asia: Introduction
This introduction briefly describes the relational trajectory between Ulrich Beck and Asia in the last few years. It draws particular attention to his last words about the role of Asia in the global risk community. Beck began to speak of the concept of metamorphosis in the 2014 Seoul conference as the correct key to understanding emancipatory catastrophism that he had expressed in the 2013 Potsdam conference. He was fascinated by the explanatory power of this concept and was driven to complete a book to explain the cosmopolitan change of the world from this perspective. With his advocacy of cities as cosmopolitan transformers, he urged Asian cities, particularly Seoul, to initiate United Cities of Asia' for a cosmopolitan cooperation for risk governance. Beck also suggested a parliament of risk actors' as a practical task to be realized in the future. In this introduction the author attempts to trace back the formation of these ideas by focusing on the interaction between Beck and Asia before his sudden passing.A&[email protected]
