Design and engineering of human TRAIL variants

    No full text

In this paper we discuss the concept of space-time diagrams as a representation of the execution of an application, and then give a method, based on critical path analysis, for calculating nontrivial upper bounds on the potential parallelism, known as the average parallelism, a complement to the speedup and efficiency

"Equation missing" : A Cross-Platform Programming Framework for Quantum-Accelerated Scientific Computing

    No full text
This paper introduces a new cross-platform programming framework for developing quantum-accelerated scientific computing applications and executing them on most of today’s cloud-based quantum computers and simulators. It makes use of C++ template meta-programming techniques to implement quantum algorithms as generic, platform-independent expressions, which get automatically synthesized into device-specific compute kernels upon execution. Our software framework supports concurrent and asynchronous execution of multiple quantum kernels via a CUDA-inspired stream concept.Accepted Author ManuscriptNumerical Analysi

Structural adaptation of tumor vascular networks

    No full text
Tumor vascular networks play an important role in various treatments of cancer. Tumor vascular morphology and hemodynamics are known to be different from normal healthy vascular networks. For improvement of treatment, the origins of these differences need to be understood. Differences in morphology and hemodynamics might be due to changes in structural diameter adaptation process. To address this question, a healthy and a tumor vascular network were visualized by intravital microscopy and were reconstructed. They were used as input to a mathematical model that simulated structural diameter adaptation, which had been developed and validated previously for healthy tissues. The tumor vascular network was used as input to the model and simulations were executed with adaptation rules at control values, as determined for healthy vascular networks. The healthy vascular network was used as input to the model and simulations were carried out with adaptation rules deliberately changed to mimic tumor situations. Network characteristics, distributions of pressure, flow and oxygen pressure and vascular network morphology were used to quantify the impact of simulations with control, respectively tumor adaptation rules. It could be seen that the tumor vascular network adapted its diameters so that it adjusted its characteristics to healthy vascular network values. Conversely, the healthy vascular network had adapted its diameters after simulation with tumor adaptation rules, so that it adopted tumor vascular network characteristics. These results show that tumor adaptation rules are different from healthy adaptation rules and can be identified by simulating structural diameter adaptation with changed adaptation rules.Biomechanical EngineeringMechanical, Maritime and Materials Engineerin

Modelling traffic in the Randstad using a dynamic zone model based on the Network Fundamental Diagram

    No full text
The aim of this master thesis is to develop a dynamic zone-based traffic model for large areas, using the concept of the Network Fundamental Diagram (NFD), which relates the average internal flow (production) and speed in a zone to the number of vehicles in the same zone (accumulation). The model that has been developed is then applied to the Randstad area, and it is analyzed whether the model is able to reproduce the observed congestion patterns and travel times between the zones.Civil Engineering | Transport and Plannin

    No full text
Applied SciencesElectrotechniekTelecommunications and Traffic Control Systems Grou
