Effect of TiB2 on the Mechanical and Tribological Properties of Marine Grade Aluminum Alloy 5052: An Experimental Investigation
Aluminum Alloy 5052 is one of the excellent corrosion resistant alloys among the Aluminum 5000 series alloys. Despite the favourable corrosion resistance, it exhibits low resistance to wear and perform poorly in various tribological applications. This study attempts to investigate the impact of TiB2 reinforcement on the mechanical and tribological properties of Aluminum Alloy 5052 matrix alloy, fabricated using the stir casting technique. Composites with varying weight percentages (0, 2.5, 5 and 7.5 wt. %)of TiB2 were prepared. Vicker's hardness testing was conducted to assess the effect of TiB2 content on composite hardness.Hardness of composites increased from 65.5 to 85.16 HV in tandem with the TiB2 content depicting a rise of about 30 %. Tribological properties were studied through dry sliding wear tests using a pin-on-disc tribometer, with varying loads (10 N and 50 N)and sliding speeds (1 m/s and 3 m/s). The results demonstrate that the addition of TiB2 significantly improves the wear resistance of the composites, being optimum in composite with 5 wt. % of TiB2. A maximum increase of about 36 % in wear resistance was observed at high load and high-speed conditions corresponding to 5 wt. % TiB2 concentration. FESEM analysis revealed distinct wear modes and the role of TiB2 in changing the wear mechanism from abrasion to delamination. This study underscores the pivotal role of TiB2 in enhancing the mechanical and tribological properties of Aluminum Alloy5052, expanding its application scope, particularly in lightweight engineering applications in general and marine in particular
Out of the Past of Boka Kotarska: The Dobrota Families and the Croatian Brotherhood of St George and Tripun amongst the Venetians (from the XVII to the beginning of the XIXth century)
Na osnovi izvorne građe pohranjene u Arhivu Bratovštine sv. Jurja i Tripuna u Mlecima, poglavito knjiga godišnjih troškova udruge (Libri conti e spese) i izvješća s redovitih skupština (Capitolar grande), razmatra se uključenost dobrotskih pomoraca, trgovaca i poduzetnika u članstvo i rad Bratovštine. Obuhvaćeno je 12 najdjelatnijih dobrotskih rodova, raspoređenih prema udjelu njihovih pripadnika u članstvu i upravnim tijelima Bratovštine u razdoblju od XVII. do početka XIX. stoljeća.On the basis of documents stored in the archive of the brotherhood of St. George and Tripun in Venice, especially the records of the association's annual spendings (Libri conti e spese) and the reports from their regular assemblies (Capitolar grande), the author examines the inclusion of the Dobrota seamen, merchants and entrepreneurs into the membership and activities of the brotherhood. The paper assesses 12 of the most active families, arranged according to extent their members took part in the membership and the ruling bodies of the brotherhood. The analysis shows that the most numerous members of the brotherhood came from the Ivanović, Ivanović-Moro, Kamenarović, Radimir and Radoničić families. These were individuals with extraordinary economic potential and widespread business activities along the Adriatic and the Mediterranean who, during the period of the highest economic prosperity of Dobrota (XVII century), made up the most elitist part of the Croatian community in Venice. Owing to their participation in the brotherhood the Croatian emigrants had an economically powerful and a socially influential association which played a significant role in lending support to the socially disadvantaged part of the membership
RESEARCH ON THE HOMOGENEITY OF TEMPERATURES IN JOINT'S AREA BY VULCANIZING THE CONVEYOR BELTS
The researches presented in this paper have followed the analysis of the heat transfer
mode during joining through vulcanization of the conveyor belts and also the homogeneity of the
temperatures in the joint area. The researches were made under laboratory conditions taking into
account the process of joining of two conveyor belts of the type ST 2000 with an installation of the
type DSLQ. Temperature measurement was conducted using an EX42570 pyrometer in four
distinct points corresponding to each end of the two conveyor belts on the both sides of the band,
namely the active and inactive side
Oltarna pala Jacopa Marieschija u Dobroti
The church of St Matthew in Dobrota (Boka Kotorska) has preserved a number of valuable works of the 18th century art. One should point sculptures by Giovanni Bonazza and Giuseppe Bemardi, and a painting by Pietro Antonio Novelli. The author adds to those works an altar painting (147 x 70 cm) showing a Christ Crucified with St. Roch and the Souls in the Purgatory on the southern side altar. On the basis of an analysis he has ascribed it to the Venetian painter Jacopo Marieschi (1711-1794). It dates from the middle of the 18th century, after the dedication of the new church of St. Matthew in Dobrota (the old one was destroyed by the earthquake of 1667). This is the second known altar painting by this author commissioned by the Croats from Venetian East Adriatic possessions (Venetian Dalamatia and Albania). Marieschi is also the author of a monumental altar painting of the Virgin with St. Simeon Stock, Pope Honorius III and SS. Peter and Paul from Novalja, also attributed to Marieschi by the author of this study (1990).Crkva sv. Mateja u Dobroti (Boka Kotorska) posjeduje nekoliko vrijednih umjetnina 18. stoljeća. Ističu se među njima skulpture Giovannija Bonazze i Giuseppe Bernardija, te slika Pietra Antonija Novellija. Tim karakternim djelima autor priključuje i palu (147x70 cm) koja prikazuje Raspetoga Krista sa sv. Rokom i dušama čistilišta na južnom bočnom oltaru. Na temelju analize autor je pripisuje mletačkom slikaru Jacopo Marieschi (1711-1749.) i datira je sredinom 18. stoljeća

This paper presents mainly the following: elements of environmental planning process, environmental planning process, place of environmental conservation in the general strategy of the organizatio
Music Education and Education Technology
U radu se problematizira pitanje primjene nastavne tehnologije u okviru glazbene nastave. Uvažavajući spoznaje s područja glazbenog razvoja djeteta (glazbena percepcija, izvedba, glazbene preferencije, glazbeno stvaralaštvo), razmatra se uloga nastavne tehnologije u razvoju takvih sposobnosti. Autorica analizira primjere glazbenih djela i animiranih filmova pomoću kojih učenici usvajaju različite instrumentalne boje i razvijaju svoj glazbeni ukus (Vodič kroz orkestar za mladež, B. Britten; Peća i vuk, S. Prokofjev; Karneval životinja, C. Saint-Saëns; Fantasia 1940 i Fantasia 2000, W. Disney). Ističe se kako primjena nastavne tehnologije u glazbenoj nastavi mora biti pažljivo isplaniran metodički postupak. This paper discusses the issue of the application of instructional technology in music classes. Taking into account the findings in the field of children’s musical development (music perception, performance, musical preferences and musical creativity), the role of instructional technology in the development of such skills is discussed. The author analyzes examples of musical compositions and animated films through which students acquire a variety of instrumental colors and develop their musical taste (The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, B. Britten; Peter and the Wolf, S. Prokofjev; The Carnival of the Animals, C. Saint-Saëns; Fantasia 1940 and Fantasia 2000, W. Disney). It is emphasized that the use of instructional technology in music education must be a carefully planned methodical procedure

Constructive Optimization of Vulcanization Installations in Order to Improve the Performance of Conveyor Belts
Conveyor belts of special importance must have superior mechanical characteristics. The joining by vulcanization of the conveyor belts allows to obtain superior performances, but it has been found that at the vulcanizing joint of the conveyor belts, there is a “bell”-type defect. This type of defect can cause the quick removal of the conveyor belts from use; thus, within this paper, we realized the constructive optimization of vulcanization installations using the finite element method (FEM). Thus, the FEM analysis was performed for the installation used at the present time, which has four spacers for stiffening, moving to the next stage to a stiffening system with seven spacers and, in the last stage, it was proposed to use a stiffening plate. The joined conveyor belts were of type ST 2000, and by the constructive optimization of the vulcanizing press type DSLQ, the bell-type defect was greatly reduced. Also, an analysis of the effects that the constructive optimization of the vulcanization installation has on the resistance to extraction of the metallic insert from the rubber matrix of the costs determined by the proposed constructive modifications, has been performed
Students’ attitudes toward classical music and music classes
The aim of this research was to examine students’ attitudes toward classical music and music classes in the elementary and secondary school and the impact of exposure to classical music during the secondary and higher education on the students’ attitudes toward classical music and music classes in general. The results confirm the positive impact of exposure to classical music throughout higher education on the attitudes toward classical music and music classes but also on the existence of verbalism at the expense of musical experience in music classes. Furthermore, a poor theatre and classical concerts attendance was observed. The author points to the need for change of the music teaching approach so as to reduce verbalism and on the other hand to increase the frequency of quality musical experiences by means of music reproductions as well as live performances
