The virtue of Bonhoeffer's ethics: a study of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's Ethics in relation to virtue ethics
Jennifer Moberly, 'The Virtue of Bonhoeffer's Ethics: A Study of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's Ethics in Relation to Virtue Ethics' (PhD, 2009)
This study first explores the prima facie reasons for rejecting the possibility of seeing a close relationship between Bonhoeffer's Ethics and virtue ethics. However, a closer reading of his texts, and the examination of formulations of virtue ethics by Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, and Alasdair MacIntyre, lead to the conclusin that those grounds are insufficient for dismissing the possibility of such a relationship. Instead there is compelling evidence for the presence of virtue-ethical aspects in his treatment of justification and sanctification, his implicit anthropology and holistic conecption of human life, and especially in the theme of 'conformation' and the notion of 'simplicity'. Given the fact that there are some ways in which Bonhoeffer's Ethics appears to be positively related to virtue ethics, the study then examines how these aspects are related to elements of Barthian divine command ethics which are also present in Bonhoeffer's conception. The suggested conclusion is that the two forms of ethical thought were used throughout the writing periods in a dialectical integration within an overall vision of the agent participating (by grace) in the reality that Christ has reconciled all reality to God. Finally, the thesis considers how this understanding of Bonhoeffer's Ethics may be of use within contemporary debates, and advocates seeing it as a distinctive example of how virtue ethics may be articulated without compromising the role of grace
Propositionwise judgment aggregation
In the theory of judgment aggregation, it is known for which agendas of propositions it is possible to aggregate individual judgments into collective ones in accordance with the Arrow-inspired requirements of universal domain, collective rationality, unanimity preservation, non-dictatorship and propositionwise independence. But it is only partially known for which agendas it is possible to respect additional requirements, notably non-oligarchy, anonymity, no individual veto power, or implication preservation. We fully characterize the agendas for which there are such possibilities, thereby answering the most salient open questions about propositionwise judgment aggregation. Our results build on earlier results by Nehring and Puppe (2002), Nehring (2006) and Dietrich and List (2007a).mathematical economics;

We also thank María Marta Cigliano and Santiago Plischuk for facilitating field work by CHD in Argentina that led to the collection of other specimens included in this study. Siamiassus constanti Dai, Dietrich & Zhang, 2015, sp. nov.
Siamiassus constanti sp. nov. (Figs 5 C, D, 20 A–D, 23 A) Male 8.4 mm long, 3.9 mm wide across humeral angles. Color dull olive green; forewing densely marked with small black spots in basal 2 / 3 and along veins near apex; front and middle femur black in distal half, front tibia dark brown (Fig. 5 C, D). Structural features as described for genus (Fig. 20 A–D). Type material. Holotype ♂ THAILAND: Loei, Na-Haeo (edge pond) 17.v. 2003, J. Constant & K. Smets, light trap [RISB]. Notes. This species is named in honor of Dr. Jerome Constant, Auchenorrhyncha expert at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, Brussels, collector of the holotype and host to CHD during a recent visit to Brussels. Siniassus nom. nov. (replacement for Sinojassus Dai, Zhang, Zhang & Dietrich 2010, nec Sinojassus Zhang 1985) Notes. The genus was described by Dai et al. (2010) and given the name Sinojassus, but this name is a junior homonym of an older fossil genus, Sinojassus Zhang (1985) and, therefore, must be given a new replacement name. Siniassus resembles Trocnadella in overall body form and the absence of a separately articulated connective in the male genitalia, but may be distinguished by the presence of numerous dark spots on the dorsum and the elongate style apodeme. Included species: Siniassus aspinus (Dai, Zhang & Zhang), comb. n. (Fig. 4 A, B) Sinojassus aspinus Dai, Zhang & Zhang 2010 in Dai, Zhang, Zhang & Dietrich (2010) Siniassus compressus (Dai, Zhang & Zhang), comb. n. Lost in translation: what did Bonhoeffer mean by 'coming of age'?
The writings of few twentieth-century theologians have been as widely read as those of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, however Peter Potter argues that misinterpretation of certain key phrases in English translations of his work has led to serious confusion about aspects of his thought. He looks in particular at the phrase 'a world come of age', examining in detail how a deeper understanding of Bonhoeffer's intention has so much more to say to us today than has often been apparent in studies of his work.Publisher PD
