Exploring the relationship between digital implementation and SMEs’ performance: an empirical study

    No full text
This study aims to contribute to strategic management studies by examining the existent relationship between the Digital Innovation of SMEs and their performance. To evaluate the relationship between SME’s performance and DI, we use the generalized methods of moments (GMM), considering the DI and SMEs’ performance estimate based on a pool of indicators. We consider a sample of 500 SMEs, innovative and non-innovative, over an 8-year period to emphasize the actual relationship between the adoption of DI and the increasing of the performance. This research is based on a combination of methods and empirical models that permit us to explore the existent relationship between the adoption of different digital innovations tools and the impact of the SMEs’ performance. We constructed and considered several variables to investigate the adoption of DI,combining a series of databases and sources. Data for selected variables related to SMEs’ performance were collected using AIDA Bureau van Dijk’s database. Our sample comprises 500 innovative and non-innovative Italian SMEs, collected over an 8-year period (2013-2021) from AIDA and the Italian register of start-up and innovative SMEs

Building Relational Capital in Cooperative Banks of Italy: Role of Effective Communication, Relationship Age and Social Impacts

    No full text
The recent banking industry crisis in Italy highlighted irregular banking operations, overly risky investments, poor management and concealing important information from regulators giving a severe blow to the reputation of the whole industry. The banking crisis in Italy is two-fold now: capital crisis and reputation crisis. Lack of public support, trust and faith has put the banks in Italy in a tough spot. What banks need today is to regain the trust of the stakeholders, strengthen their reputation and build relational capital. This study shall explore how small cooperative banks in Italy can rebuild their relational capital through positive social impacts and effective communication among other initiatives

A SspI PCR-RFLP detecting a silent allele at the goat CSN2 locus

The comparison between the cDNA sequence obtained and the published sequences of the goat CSN2 alleles showed a new single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) (transition C-T) at the 180th nucleotide of the ninth exon. This mutation, which took place at 124 nt from the polyadenylation site, identifies a silent allele at the CSN2 locus named CSN2 A1. Since the 9th exon C-T transition creates a SspI endonuclease restriction site, the SspI digestion of a PCR product of 360 bp spanning the 9th exon and flanking regions, would allow carriers for the presence of thymine to be identified. The allelic frequency of the CSN2 A1 allele, determined in 170 goats belonging to an undefined genetic type reared in the province of Naples (Italy), was 0.23 It has been observed that the sequences in the 3’ untranslated regions (UTR), proximal to the polyadenylation site, can affect the mechanism of mRNA deadenylation and degradation. Therefore, it is reasonable to hypothesize that the C-T transition might, directly or indirectly, influence the stability of the mRNA and, consequently, the amount of protein produced

A SNP in the goat CSN2 promoter region is associated with the absence of β-casein in the milk

Summary: So far, at least eight alleles in the goat CSN2 locus have been associated with the level of [beta]-casein expression in milk. Alleles CSN2A, CSN2A1, CSN2B, CSN2C, CSN2D and CSN2E have been associated with normal content (allele effects of about 5 g of [beta]-casein per litre), whereas the CSN20 and CSN201 alleles have been associated with non-detectable levels of [beta]-casein. Most of these alleles have been characterized genetically. Herein, we report the identification of a previously unreported SNP in the goat CSN2 promoter region (AJ011018:g.1311T>C), which is associated with the absence of [beta]-casein in the milk. Furthermore, we developed a PCR-based method that allows detection of this mutatio
