    Various aspects of integrated optics and its (strategic) importance for the development of telecommunications in the near future are considered. Lithium niobate (LiNbO//3) is one of the materials contributing to this development due to its optimal optical, acousto-optical and electro-optical properties both in the visible and the near infrared region.
