No full textThe article focuses on the problems related to the “Italian Research Assessment Exercise” in the field of legal research. The author stresses out that, when evaluating the quality of research, two important aspects must always be taken into account: first of all, there are basic differences among the different domains of scientific research and, therefore, there is a clear need of differentiating when choosing the assessment tools. As for legal research the very close relationship between language and law must therefore also be duly taken into account. Secondly (and more in general) the risks of performing an assessment of research quality, as well as the risks of not performing it, have to be duly taken into account
