Congruence curves of the Goldstein-Petrich flows
We study the existence of contours which evolve retaining their shapes under the second Goldstein-Petrich flow. We present a proof of the existence, for each integer n >= 2, of a 1-parameter family of non-congruent Goldstein-Petrich contours of R(2) with symmetry group of order n. Explicit algorithms to compute and visualize the contours and their evolution are give
Data and morphometric results from a physical experiment simulating washover deposition
This portfolio includes two sets of data, used and explained in Lazarus, E. D., Williams, H. E., & Goldstein, E. B. (2022). Volume estimation from planform characteristics of washover morphology. Geophysical Research Letters, 49, e2022GL100098. https://doi.org/10.1029/2022GL100098:
1. washover morphometry measured from a physical experiment to simulate washover deposition, conducted at the Total Environment Simulator (TES) at the University of Hull ('TES_washover_morphometry.csv');
2. the terrestrial laser-scan data in which those morphometric characteristics of washover were measured ('Run01.zip' – 'Run22.zip'), with a table of experimental conditions for each trial (run).

Interview with Gerard Goldstein by Mike Hastings
Biographical NoteGerard Goldstein was born August 30, 1932, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Bernard and Tilly Jepsky Goldstein. His father’s family immigrated from Russia in the early 1900s and his father owned a shoe factory. His mother’s family were also Russian immigrants and were involved in the paint and wallpaper business. Gerard grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts, and attended Lynn English High School. He and George Mitchell were both in Bowdoin College’s class of 1954. While at Bowdoin, Goldstein played on the football team and was a member of ARU (All Races United) fraternity. He earned his law degree from Harvard Law School. He specializes in real estate law and is also involved in various philanthropic activities through the local Jewish community, Temple Emmanuel in Marblehead, and the Retina Foundation.
SummaryInterview includes discussions of: the Goldstein family history of immigrating from Russia and Romania; attending Lynn English High School in the late 1940s; the process of selecting a college and choosing Bowdoin College; football at Bowdoin; favorite professors; the social scene at Bowdoin and the All Races United fraternity; ROTC; Harvard Law School; Karen Mills’s appointment to the Small Business Administration; the ongoing connection with Bowdoin alumni; George Mitchell at Bowdoin; Goldstein’s connection to Mitchell through legal work in Maine; Goldstein’s real estate business; Mitchell’s new appointment as special envoy to the Middle East; Goldstein’s trips to Israel and involvement in Jewish philanthropic organizations; his work with the Retina Foundation and Schepens Eye Research; steroids in baseball controversy; and the influence of a Bowdoin education on later life

Washover morphometry: lidar-derived and reported in literature
This portfolio includes three sets of data, used and explained in Lazarus, Williams & Goldstein (2022, https://doi.org/10.1029/2022GL100098):
1. washover morphometry measured from lidar-derived topographic change along the coastline of New Jersey, USA, following Hurricane Sandy (2012) ('NJ_Sandy_metrics.csv');
2. the geospatial data layers used to generate those measurements ('WashoverGIS.zip');
3. and a compilation of washover morphometry reported in the literature ('washover_LAV_literature_examples.csv').

Alleanza internazionale "Giuseppe Garibaldi" per la libertà d'Italia (Mexico City, 1941-1945): popular front or soviet puppet organization?
During the Second World War, the most prominent Italian antifascist organizations in the Americas refused to admit communists. This is not surprising, given the need to secure the cooperation of the US government. The Alleanza Garibaldi, however, sought to build a broader alliance. By admitting all antifascists, no matter their political affiliations, the Garibaldi attempted to promote unity as a sine qua non for defeating nazi-fascism. Based in Mexico City, then a hub for left-wing political exile, the Alleanza leveraged the resources of a variety of transnational partners to disseminate propaganda, assist refugees, and lobby for Italian interests. This article intends to reconstruct the history of this little-known organization and to examine the ways in which these complex solidarity networks both helped and hindered the group's unity agenda
Resume of the life, business and social activities of Mr Samuel Goldstein
The Burnett Archive of Working Class Autobiographies was gathered together by John Burnett, David Vincent and David Mayall whilst compiling their three volumes annotated bibliography, "The Autobiography of the Working Class" (Harvester Press, 1984-1989). This book includes descriptions of unpublished autobiographies and indicates their locations. Excerpts from some of the autobiographies have been published in "Destiny obscure: autobiographies of childhood, education, and family from the1820s to the 1920s", edited by John Burnett (Routledge 1994 and A. Lane, 1982). The authors "sought to identify not only the large numbers of printed works scattered in various local history libraries and record offices, but also extant private memoirs, many of which remain hidden in family attics, known only to the author and a handful of relatives" (Introduction to vol.1, p. xxix). The criteria for inclusion were: the writers were working class for at least part of their lives; they wrote in English; and they lived for some time in England, Scotland or Wales between 1790 and 1945. John Burnett was professor of social history at Brunel University from 1972 to 1990.Brief memoirs of Samuel Goldstein (born Warsaw, Poland 1889). Goldstein outlines his early life and experience working in textiles in London and the United States. Describes periods of unemployment and ill health before setting up a successful business with his brother
