Sisto V e il palazzo Colonna ai santi Apostoli
The author investigates the reasons of the strong interest of Pope Sixtus V for aquiring the Palazzo della Torre, property of the Colonna family, belonging to the oldest aristocracy of Rome, even against the will of Cardinal Ascanio Colonna, who had inherited it from his father, the famous Marcantonio of the battle of Lepanto. Sixtus wished to give back the Palazzo to the Franciscan Convent of Santi Apostoli not only as a sign of his affection but mainly to accomplish a new urban project for the eastern part of Rome, from the hill of the Qurinale to the Piazza delle Terme, near his familiar Villa Peretti Montatlto
La collezione del cardinale Pietro Aldobrandini nella villa a Monte Magnanapoli
The author investigates the reasons why cardinal Pietro Aldobrandini decided to build a new Roman villa
in the lower part of the Quirinale in Rome at the beginning of XVII Century. Primarily he needed it to host
his well-known collection of paintings, whose famous part were those robbed in Ferrara in 1598. The distinguished
elegant and sober building seems to be conceived expressly to favor the exhibition of the works of
modern and ancient art possessed by cardinal Pietro, so to demonstrate the birth of a new way to collect art
objects, based on relevant stylistic comparisons among masterpieces of the different “Maniere”
Vittore Carpaccio tra narrazione e devozione
The author discusses the reasons why late Carpaccio has often been considered unable to gain the same success
reserved to his contemporaries as Giorgione, Sebastiano del Piombo or the young Titian at the beginning of
XVI Century, concluding that this was mainly due to Carpaccio’s traditional patrons. They clearly preferred
works of art connected to late XV Century Venetian pictorial tradition, probably also because of the difficult
and dangerous situation of the Republic from the economic and political point of view, but this doesn’t mean
that he wasn’t sincerely appreciated, as can testify even his last works

Re-descovering the richness of terraced landscapes
Terraced landscapes are a patrimony of resources that must be redescovered, to promote agriculture as a creative sustainable choice for the future, involving people in the successful care and maintenance of landscape. Terraced landscapes need to be kept alive: this can happen only where communities see them as e resources-carrying reality. A productive relation with land is a strong connection, even when production is a mix of surviving agriculture, rural tourism and niche production. Bio diversity, memory, History, cultural hetìritage are some of the different inner resources still lying in the terraced landscapes. As example we can quote wine terraced landscapes in Italy, where we can find real oenologic treasures to develop an innovative viticulture, based on ancient wine grapes. We need to improve the recognition and the reading of the meaning and values of landscape, involving the stakeholders in shared projects to enrich quality of life environmet by multifunctional satisfactory activities. facing participation, a project for the valorization of terraced landscapes can apply the concept of "creative agriculture" as a strategy involving the communities to bring into a stronger system all single initiatives ( from the promotion of local products to the offering of a new hosting model), showing people a way to give a new interpretation of agriculture as a job with interesting potentialities (quality of life environment, possibilities of multi-functional activities, new social model, etc.), to attract young peopleto work in terraced landscapes. Tis strategy also points out the value of a shared project to enrich a local community, based on the peculiar characters of the rural landscape
Autour des villages historiques abandonés: valorization, mise en réseau des ressources et strategies communes de gestione du paysage
Many abandoned villages of the Italian Alps and Apennines were part of rural systems, based on the use of resources, from woods to cultivated land.
Liguria presents examples of these ghost towns, for which revitalization hypotheses were put forward, as in Giancarlo De Carlo's project for the "cable village" of Colletta di Castelbianco, proposing, many years ago, the use of new technologies to relieve physical insulation.
What has been lost is the perception of the value of the landscape: what reasons can attract new inhabitants to these internal valleys?
An effective strategy must be able to understand the reason and effect of the abandonment, to interpret the village subsistence systems, the existing resources, aiming to the recovery of the entire landscape contest. The landscape approach integrates the analysis of architectural artefacts with the analysis on a larger scale, to understand the landscape transformation, the abandonment phases, expansion of invasive species, hydrogeological instabilities.
The multidimensional and interdisciplinary study allows an interpretation/evaluation of the critical issues and existing values, to plan actions for a networking of resources, a global improvement of the landscape heritage. The involvement of possible local actors and the reconstruction of shared projects (restoration of buildings and resumption of agricultural activities, typical products, uses and traditions of the past, reestablishment of an emotional relationship with the places) are the only way to guarantee lasting effects, to foster socially enriching projects
