No full textThe inclusive production of D (2010) mesons in deep-inelastic scattering is studied with the H1 detector at HERA. In the kinematic region 1 and 0:05 0:7 an e p cross section for inclusive D meson production of 8:500:42 (stat.) +1:21 1:00 (syst.) nb is measured in the visible range p t D > 1:5 GeV and j D j 1:5. Single and double differential inclusive D meson cross sections are compared to perturbative QCD calculations in two different evolution schemes. The charm contribution to the proton structure, 2 x; Q , is determined by extrapolating the visible charm cross section to the full phase space. This contribution is found to rise from about 10% at Q = 1:5 GeV to more than 25% at Q corresponding to x values ranging from 5 10 to 3 10 . Submitted to Phys. Lett. B C. Adloff , V. Andreev , B. No full textInclusive production cross sections are measured in deep inelastic scattering at HERA for meson states composed of a charm quark and a light antiquark or the charge conjugate. The measurements cover the kinematic region of photon virtuality 2 100 GeV inelasticity 0.05 0.7, D meson transverse momenta p t (D) 2.5 GeV and pseudorapidity 1.5. The identification of the D-meson decays and the reduction of the combinatorial background profit from the reconstruction of displaced secondary vertices by means of the H1 silicon vertex detector. The production of charmed mesons containing the light quarks u, d and s is found to be compatible with a description in which the hard scattering is followed by a factorisable and universal hadronisation process. Measurement of Charm and Beauty Photoproduction at HERA using D ∗ µ Correlations
No full textA measurement of charm and beauty photoproduction at the electron proton collider HERA is presented based on the simultaneous detection of a D # meson and a muon. The correlation between the D # meson and the muon serves to separate the charm and beauty contributions and the analysis provides comparable sensitivity to both. The total and differential experimental cross sections are compared to LO and NLO QCD calculations. The measured charm cross section is in good agreement with QCD predictions including higher order effects while the beauty cross section is higher. To be submitted to Phys. Lett. B A. Aktas , V. No full textMeasurement of D*(+/-) meson production in jets from pp collisions at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
No full textThis paper reports a measurement of D*(+/-) meson production in jets from proton- proton collisions at a center- of- mass energy of root s = 7 TeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The measurement is based on a data sample recorded with the ATLAS detector with an integrated luminosity of 0.30 pb(-1) for jets with transverse momentum between 25 and 70 GeV in the pseudorapidity range vertical bar eta vertical bar D-0 pi(+), D-0 -> K-pi(+), and its charge conjugate. The production rate is found to be N(D*(+/-))/N(jet) = 0.025 +/- 0.001(stat.) +/- 0.004(syst.) for D*(+/-) mesons that carry a fraction z of the jet momentum in the range 0.3< z< 1. Monte Carlo predictions fail to describe the data at small values of z, and this is most marked at low jet transverse momentum
