No full textIn this essay, the author deals with the crisis between the Principality of Serbia and the Ottoman Empire following the Turkish bombardment of Belgrade in June 1862. The main part of the article discusses the Italian attitude towards those events in an attempt to discover the authentic policy of the Kingdom born the previous year (March 1861). The Serbian affairs were the first international test for the new Italian State. After the unification, the Italian policy in the Balkans became more prudent than that of the Risorgimento years (for example in 1849), as the attitude of the Turin government illustrated during the Conference on Serbian aff airs held in Constantinople

Quei territori, infatti, furono uno dei vari fronti del conflitto europeo e subirono una serie di occupazioni militari a opera di diversi Stati: Italia, Francia, Austria-Ungheria, Grecia, Serbia e Bulgaria. Il punto di partenza è la proclamazione d’indipendenza del 1912. Il punto di arrivo è l’ingresso dell’Albania nella Società delle Nazioni nel 1920. Nel saggio è riservata particolare attenzione alla politica dell’Italia: dall’occupazione di Valona nel 1914, alla sua evacuazione nell’agosto del 1920.The Author gives a concise outline of the Albanian events during the First World War. The Albanian regions were one of the many fronts of the European conflict. They suffered different military occupations by many States: Italy, France, Austria-Hungary, Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria. The starting point of the analysis is the declaration of independence in 1912. The arrival point is the Albania’s admission in the League of Nations in 1920. A special attention is paid to Italian policy towards Albania: from Valona’s occupation in 1914 to its evacuation in August 1920
