O texto foi publicado pelo autor martinicano em 1963 e encenado a partir de 1964. A história aborda o embate histórico entre os dois líderes revolucionários haitianos, Alexandre Pétion (1770-1818) e Henry Christophe (1767-1820), após o estabelecimento da independência do Haiti, em 1804. O ex-escravizado Henry Christophe I, autoproclamado rei do Haiti em 1811, protagoniza, na peça, os impasses políticos decorrentes do processo de descolonização para a constituição de um novo estado haitiano livre e democrático. Optamos por traduzir a cena que anuncia e ilustra, na abertura do primeiro Ato, o caráter trágico que permeia o desenrolar dos eventos.This contribution proposes the commented translation of the first scene of the play La Tragédie du roi Christophe (The tragedy of King Christophe), by Aimé Césaire. The text was published by the Martinican author in 1963 and staged from 1964 onwards. The story addresses the historical clash between the two Haitian revolutionary leaders, Alexandre Pétion (1770-1818) and Henry Christophe (1767-1820), after the establishment of Haitian independence in 1804. The ex-enslaved Henry Christophe I, self-proclaimed King of Haiti in 1811, stars, in the play, political impasses resulting from the decolonization process, for the constitution of a new free and democratic Haitian state. We chose to translate the scene that announces and illustrates, in the opening of the first Act, the tragic character that permeates the unfolding of events

Near-wall statistics of a turbulent pipe flow at shear Reynolds numbers up to 40000
No full textThis paper reports on near-wall two-component–two-dimensional (2C–2D) particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements of a turbulent pipe flow at shear Reynolds numbers up to acquired in the CICLoPE facility of the University of Bologna. The 111.5 m long pipe of 900 mm diameter offers a well-established turbulent flow with viscous length scales ranging from 85 µm at down to 11µm at . These length scales can be resolved with a high-speed PIV camera at image magnification near unity. Statistically converged velocity profiles were determined using multiple sequences of up to 70 000 PIV recordings acquired at sampling rates of 100 Hz up to 10 kHz. Analysis of the velocity statistics shows a well-resolved inner peak of the streamwise velocity fluctuations that grows with increasing Reynolds number and an outer peak that develops and moves away from the inner peak with increasing Reynolds number

The author refers here to the comparative vocation of Elias theory to make intelligible the incomprehension which may resuit from the different ways of investing the civilisation values. L'opposition à la tauromachie espagnole constitue incontestablement un cas emblématique des engagements visant à édifier la cause animale. A partir de la théorie de Norbert Elias relative aux processus de civilisation, l'auteur s'efforce de mettre en exergue les économies émotionnelles qui sous-tendent aussi bien la passion des aficionados que les dénonciations virulentes des opposants à la corrida. La vocation comparative que le sociologue allemand a toujours attribuée à sa théorie est rappelée ici avec force afin de rendre intelligible les incompréhensions qui peuvent résulter de différentes modalités d'investissement des valeurs de la civilisation. Active control of a separated turbulent boundary layer in adverse pressure gradient
No full textLe contrôle d’écoulement permet d’éliminer le phénomène de décollement de couches limites, très néfaste pour les performances des machines interagissant avec un fluide (avions, voitures, turbomachines ...). Ces travaux s’intéressent plus particulièrement au contrôle actif d’écoulement au moyen de jets continus. Une maquette permettant de manipuler l’équilibre de la couche limite a été conçue et installée dans la soufflerie du Laboratoire de Mécanique de Lille. La première partie du travail a consisté en la caractérisation de l’écoulement autour du modèle à l’aide de visualisations par fils de laine et par enduit gras, de mesures de répartition de pression, de mesures par anémométrie à fils chauds et par PIV. Ceci a permis de définir la configuration du modèle la plus appropriée pour les études de contrôle mais aussi de connaître précisément les caractéristiques de l’écoulement sélectionné. La configuration retenue correspond à un écoulement en gradient de pression adverse suivi d’une séparation sur le volet, un peu comme sur l’extrados d’une aile d’avion. L’utilisation de sondes de frottement associées à des visualisations aux fils de laine ont permis d’étudier et d’optimiser des actionneurs passifs, puis des actionneurs à jets continus. Certaines des configurations actives optimales ont ensuite été caractérisées plus en détail par une mesure par PIV englobant toute la zone de séparation. Il apparaît que les jets continus ne suppriment pas complètement les mécanismes de la séparation mais réduisent leur intensité et les concentrent plus ou moins près de la paroiFlow control allows to suppress boundary layers separation, which largely deteriorates the performances of machineries which interact with fluid (aircraft, cars, turbomachineries, etc.). This study concentrates more particularly on active flow control with continuous jets. A ramp model which allows to manipulate the boundary layer equilibrium was realized and set in Laboratoire de Mécanique de Lille wind tunnel. The first part of the work was to characterize the flow over the model with wool-tufts and oil-film visualisations, pressure distribution, hot-wire anemometry and PIV measurements. The aim was to define a ramp configuration for the flow control study and to know precisely the characteristics of the retained flow. The selected configuration corresponds to an adverse pressure gradient flow followed by a separation on the flap, which mimics the flow on the suction side of a wing. With friction probes coupled with wool-tufts visualisations, passive actuators and active continuous jets were studied and optimised. Finally, some of the optimum active configurations found were characterized in more details with PIV measurements over the entire separated region.
