Full text linkSe si esclude l’offerta della grande distribuzione organizzata, spesso localizzata nelle zone urbane periferiche, è possibile ammettere che nell’immaginario collettivo la massima espressione dell’offerta commerciale di un centro urbano corrisponda a una o a poche vie di una città. La scelta di focalizzare lo studio su alcune strade rappresentative della situazione commerciale di un centro urbano non è dunque casuale o peregrina. Per la Sicilia questo forte nesso è del tutto evidente nelle tre Città metropolitane di Palermo, Catania e Messina

No full textA Palermo, a partire dagli anni Ottanta, via Lincoln cominciò a conoscere un inaspettato flusso migratorio di cinesi. Il luogo di origine dei cittadini cinesi trasferitisi a Palermo in quegli anni in realtà era lo stesso dei migranti cinesi che già a partire dai primi decenni del secolo scorso avevano cominciato a popolare alcune città italiane del Centro-Nord, in quel caso trovando occupazione soprattutto come commercianti ambulanti o lavoratori marittimi. Optimized Trapezoidal Acceleration Profiles for Minimum Settling Time of the Load Velocity
Full text linkThis paper deals with a method for generating symmetrical trapezoidal acceleration profiles for the motor of a vibrating system in rest-to-velocity motion. The aim was to significantly reduce the acceleration time and residual load vibration of lightly damped systems. Under undamped conditions, the analytical values of the jerk time are found to be in relation to the estimated natural frequency and the minimum value of the acceleration time is provided, also taking into account a limit value for motor acceleration. The analysis of the sensitive curves allows the designer to understand the magnitude of the residual vibration generated by an incorrect estimate of the natural frequency. Numerical simulations, with a closed-chain controlled motor and a zero or very small structural damping coefficient of the oscillating system, confirm the validity of the proposed method
Non-Rectangular Dynamic Range of the Drive System: A New Approach for the Choice of Motor and Transmission
Full text linkThis paper deals with the choice of the motor-transmission couple to drive a joint in the frequent case in which the limit curve of the dynamic operating range of the drive system depends on the motor speed. The paper considers a given drive system and proposes a method that resorts to a succession of instant analyses during the reference task: for a transmission with no energy dissipation the result, if it exists, is a range of transmission ratios that can be coupled with the given motor in order to perform the reference task. The extension of the method to a real transmission is a diagram that correlates the transmission ratio and the direct and inverse efficiency of the reducer and that offers the designer an overview of the transmissions that can be coupled with the given motor to perform the reference task
Politiche di sviluppo alla prova: geografie della crisi
No full textThe financial, economic and sanitary crisis that Europe has been enduring since 2008 are designing a new European
geography of development and territorial systems. These crises have accentuated the gap between European regions, strengthening the idea of an economic space marked by center-periphery relations. The spread of a sovereign and anti-European spirit, Brexit, the tendency to centralize governance functions and resources, the further economic decline of some already weak areas: the emergence of these fragmenting trends and the growing economic gap between communities raise the question of whether the European Union’s cohesion policies are actually failing the objectives of equity and integration rather than bridging the development gap between regions. The time of local development, perhaps at its epilogue, is experiencing a critical phase also due to the transfer of the decision focal point from the local level to other spatial levels of governance.
The further weakening of the marginal territories requires the identification of new development objectives and the adoption of new local strategies that the European multilevel governance seems unable to ensure. The topic also affects the tourism sector, that is considered by the territories, especially if «peripheral», one of the most important development drivers of the local economy
