No full textExperimental tests have been performed on a systematic series of surface piercing propellers with varied number of blades (4 and 5) and pitch ratio (from 0.8 to 1.4). Some aspects of scaling the performance of this kind of propulsor have been investigated.
Influence of depth of immersion and shaft inclination is discussed and results for variations in these parameters are presented.
Regression equations are given describing the relationship of the thrust and torque coefficients for advance coefficients above the critical values.
This work is the result of a research on the performances of surface piercing propellers undertaken by the University of Genoa and was partly developed as a doctoral thesis on surface piaercing propellers

No full textThe results of a magnetic and electromagnetic measurement survey are presented, which was carried
out around a Magnetic Resonance Imaging device. The investigation is performed with the twofold aim of
characterising the field source under the different operating sequences and evaluating the exposure of workers
both to the static and time-varying magnetic field. The exposure levels are estimated, as a function of the
position of the workers and the field characteristics, and their compliance with the existing and possible new
limits is discussed. Critical situations are put in evidence in relation to both the exposure limits and the
performance of the available measuring instruments
