I casi-studio ricadono nell’ambito della cosiddetta “archeologia di montagna” e offrono esempi del lavoro archeologico alle alte quote o nelle aree vallive, significativi per suscitare sia la discussione metodologica sia la riflessione sulla presenza umana negli ecosistemi montani.he paper gives some insights of the data collected in the area of Carona (province of Bergamo, Italy) within the framework of the author’s PhD thesis. The main objective of the project is to understand the diachronic evolution of a mountain landscape shaped by human-environment interaction. The area was exploited for mining and pastoral activities from early medieval times; we also know that some kind of human occupation occurred in the area during the late Iron Age and the early Roman Age. The data collected through field survey, cartography, and archive study have been implemented through GIS and statistical analysis. The main type of evidence detected are the mountain huts (baite), along with pastoral structures, charcoal production sites and mining assemblages. The analysis of structural decay and cartographic presence of baite lead to the definition of a built landscape chronology. The main outcome is the reconstruction, at different levels of accuracy, of the landscape evolution from Iron Age to the present time. The proposed methodology, as a synthesis of different research experiences in the mountain environment, could lay the foundations for a broader reflection on possible shared and common approaches to “mountain archaeology” as an autonomous archaeological field of research

Storia religiosa e storiografia : Ritorno a Croce?

    No full text
Moving from the footnotes to the "Storia religiosa" by Giovanni Miccoli, this essays analyses the connection between religious history and historiography. An account weighing up the Storia religiosa, which appeared in «Quaderni storici» in 1970, is highly important: in the Storia, attention was paid to the history of dioceses, bishops and the history of religious life as the history of the Church. This link has much to do with the role of Benedetto Croce in Italian culture. It is not merely by chance that, for Giovanni Miccoli, a book deeply influenced by Croce ("Arnaldo da Brescia nelle fonti del secolo XII" by Arsenio Frugoni) was fundamental. Croce was the author of a fundamental lesson on the hierarchy of sources and was also responsible for identifying the relationship between historical method and the definition of what is truly a source. Through the Storia religiosa, this essays questions what remains today of the thinking of Benedetto Croce

    SBC Predictive Model

    No full text
Data and code used for the development of an ethnoarchaeological inductive predictive model in the central italian Alps (Upper Brembo Valley, province of Bergamo, Italy). SBC is for "Sorgenti del Brembo di Carona" (Source of the Carona branch of the River Brembo). The inductive predictive model was originally created as part of a PhD Thesis: CROCE E., 2022, Archeologia d'alta quota alle sorgenti del Brembo, PhD Thesis, A.A. 2020/2021, Università di Trento: https://dx.doi.org/10.15168/11572_350299; and is based upon the previous work of F. Carrer (which co-authored also the present model): CARRER F., 2013, An ethnoarchaeological inductive model for predicting archaeological site location: a case-study of pastoral settlement patterns in the Val di Fiemme and Val di Sole (Trentino, Italian Alps), Journal of Anthropological Archaeology, 32, pp. 54-62: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jaa.2012.10.001 The position of modern summer farms, along with a sample of random points, and physical landscape data, are used to calculate an inductive predictive model centered on pastoral activities. The calculation can be done mainly with GRASS GIS and R/RStudio. Some data are pre-processed using QGIS

Buffering volume changes of Si nanocomposite anodes

The massive development of Li-ion technology has allowed for massive spreading of portable electronics, as well as for a progressive development of electrical vehicles (EV) with higher driving range. Despite this, the ever-increasing demand in energy density requests for a breakthrough in Li-storage materials. In this context, anode materials alternative to conventional graphite, with improved capacity, have been investigated for several years. Among these, Si plays a special role because of its extremely high theoretical capacity (4200 mAh g-1 corresponding to the formation of a Li22Si4 alloy). Nevertheless, the volume changes of about 300% associated with the alloying/dealloying processes represent a severe limitation to the electrode reversibility, so that actions aimed at counteracting this drawback are needed for the development of durable Si anodes. The electrochemical behaviour of nanocomposite materials, based on commercial Si powder of about 100 nm size in which the volume changes are buffered by dispersing matrixes such as reduced graphene oxide (RGO) or transition metal oxides, is here presented. The electrodes and cells performances, in terms of specific capacity and durability, are optimized by the use of tailored binders and electrolyte formulations. A rationale of the improved behaviour is explored by applying several morphological, structural and electrochemical investigation techniques, with a special focus on electrode/electrolyte interfacial properties. La “Compilazione di Santa Croce”: prime ricognizioni

    No full text
