La scalinata Potëmkin. Lo spazio obliquo e il racconto urbano di Odessa
No full textIl contributo ricostruisce la vicenda storica e progettuale della scalinata di Odessa, denominata dalla cultura popolare 'Scalinata Potëmkin', in seguito al grande successo avuto dal film "La corazzata Potëmkin", di Ejzenštejn. Il testo parla dell'autore dell'opera, l'architetto ticinese Francesco Carlo Boffo, chiamato a ricostruire gran parte degli edifici e spazi pubblici di Odessa nel corso del XIX secolo. Evidenzia, inoltre i significati estetici e urbani di un'architettura divenuta iconica e riconosciuta in tutto il mondo. L'importanza della scala è, poi, evidenziata nel rapporto tra cinema e architettura, che spiega il carattere narrativo dello spazio urbano.The contribution reconstructs the historical and design story of the Odessa staircase, called 'Potemkin Staircase' by popular culture, following the great success of Eisenstein's film "The Battleship Potemkin". The text talks about the author of the work, the Ticino architect Francesco Carlo Boffo, called to reconstruct a large part of the buildings and public spaces of Odessa during the 19th century. It also highlights the aesthetic and urban meanings of an architecture that has become iconic and recognized throughout the world. The importance of scale is then highlighted in the relationship between cinema and architecture, which explains the narrative character of urban space

No full textLa restituzione architettonica della Scalinata monumentale di Odessa nella condizione in cui si trovava durante la prima metà del XIX secolo, ha costituito un’attività di ricerca di elevata complessità dovuta alla poca documentazione disponibile e all’inaccessibilità ai luoghi (per via del conflitto in atto) e alle rilevanti trasformazioni del contesto.
La ricerca si è costruita come un dialogo con l’architettura di Francesco Boffo per Odessa e con la città stessa. Con l’ausilio di alcuni indizi, di segni e tracce ancora individuabili, è stato possibile dedurre con precisione la sua configurazione compiuta, risalendo allo spazio che potenzialmente fu, ricomponendo mediante disegni e modelli quello che oggi potrebbe definirsi come una sorta di leggenda architettonica.The architectural restitution of the monumental staircase of Odessa, in the condition in which it was found during the first half of the 19th century, constituted a research activity with an high degree of complexity due to the scarce documentation available, to the inaccessibility of the places (because of the ongoing conflict) and
to the numerous transformations of its surroundings.
The research is constructed as a dialogue with Francesco Boffo’s architecture for Odessa and with the city itself. With the help of some clues, of still identifiable signs and traces, it was therefore possible to reconstruct its complete configuration with precision, going back to the space that potentially was, recomposing through drawings and models what today could be defined as a sort of architectural legend
