E-COLLABORATION. THE NEW ECHONOMIC WORLD
In this paper we will present what e-collaboration means and how can this concept revolutionize the XXI-th century economy. Our analysis leads to a conclusion that the future of business will be based on technological backgrounds. Breaking time and space frontiers will be the key of success in a hard competitive business environment. In our opinion this goals will be achieved by the implementation of groupware. However, our study shows that this field still needs a lot of normalization as concept of e-collaboration still has no standard approaches and many theoreticians still confuse collaboration with the classical “three c” terms.economy
Statistical mechanics of nucleosomes
Eukaryotic cells contain long DNA molecules (about two meters for a human cell) which are tightly packed inside the micrometric nuclei. Nucleosomes are the basic packaging unit of the DNA which allows this millionfold compactification. A longstanding puzzle is to understand the principles which allow cells to both organize their genomes into chromatin fibers in the crowded space of their nuclei, and also to keep the DNA accessible to many factors and enzymes. With the nucleosomes covering about three quarters of the DNA, their positions are essential because these influence which genes can be regulated by the transcription factors and which cannot. We study physical models which predict the genome-wide organization of the nucleosomes and also the relevant energies which dictate this organization. In the last five years, the study of chromatin knew many important advances. In particular, in the field of nucleosome positioning, new techniques of identifying nucleosomes and the competing DNA-binding factors appeared, as chemical mapping with hydroxyl radicals, ChIP-exo, among others, the resolution of the nucleosome maps increased by using paired-end sequencing, and the price of sequencing an entire genome decreased. We present a rigorous statistical mechanics model which is able to explain the recent experimental results by taking into account nucleosome unwrapping, competition between different DNA-binding proteins, and both the interaction between histones and DNA, and between neighboring histones. We show a series of predictions of our new model, all in agreement with the experimental observations.Ph. D.Includes bibliographical referencesIncludes vitaby Răzvan V. Cherej
DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT IN CONTEXT OF COLLABORATIVE SYSTEMS
In this paper we will present the implementation aspects of a document management application, meant to administrate different types of formats. We propose an application which provides full functionality for accessing information, taking into account the security aspects of documents, and quick access to data. The application offers the possibility to track changes, manage data, save information, as well as document management functionalities. Our purpose is to create a suitable, easy-to-use application which, if used, will guarantee efficiency in an organization.document management
Variables affecting nation-building: the impact of the ethnic basis, the educational system, industrialization and sudden shocks
My dissertation examines the impact of four key independent variables on nation-building, on the evolution of the spread and intensity of nationalism. An ethnic basis (language, culture, identity, etc.) similar to the desired end-product as well as the growth of education facilitate nation-building. In most cases, industrialization hinders nation-building. Sudden shocks (collapses of empires, wars and revolutions) change the intensity of nationalism scores significantly during very short periods.Ph.D.Includes bibliographical references (p. 537-553)
The Design of a Distributed Database for Doctoral Studies Management
This paper aims to create a system that manages doctoral school requirements. The management of doctoral school implies administration of information like PhD personal information, Supervisors, Teachers, and other information that may be useful. We will debate on distributed database term as the proposed database project will have the same structure for four universities. Each university will be able to work on this database by accessing its own set of data and properly using the information received. This project will track the creation of a database to manage all the information needed and provide answers using these data.Distributed Database, Fragmentation, Top-Down Design Process
Joint Use of SCOR and VRM
Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) and Value Reference Model (VRM) are two popular business process reference models. Practitioners have suggested integrating these frameworks for achieving maximum value from the reference models. However, there are no methods and tools available for the integration of SCOR and VRM. The goal of the research is to find similarities and patterns of differences in the aforementioned reference models. The obtained results are applied to propose blueprint of guidelines for joint use of SCOR and VRM. The paper also presents a comparison between SCOR and VRM from several perspectives, which can support a semantic realignment of processes between the categories proposed by the two management frameworks
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT BUSINESS MOVING TOWARDS A UNIFIED COLLABORATIVE SYSTEM IN IT. SAAS MAY BE THE NEW ORIENTATION.
In this paper we will present an alternative way of programming. Our opinion is that, in the next few years, software development business will suffer serious changes. Software vendors will adopt SaaS (Software as a Service) as the new way of selling their products. We will try to guide you through the basic concepts of this relatively new domain. The article also includes a brief description of an application, developed indoor but using SaaS applications for some of its modules. In the end we want to make an SWOT analysis of the opportunity of using SaaS
