Parricidio e figlicidio:crocevia d'Edipo e dintorni

Note sul film di Liev Schreiber

Aestheticism and Creativity in The Legend of the pianist on the Ocean (Directed by Giuseppe Tornatore (Italy, 1998)
The authors consider Giuseppe Tornatore's film from a psychoanalytic perspective as a metaphor of the difficult individuation-separation process of Max. He tells the lifestory of his friend Nineteen Hundred, the main character of the film, a virtuoso pianist who spent all his life on board a transatlantic ship in motion between the old continent and the new. Brought up by a black stoker in the deep noisy belly of the ship, music becomes, for him, the substitute for his unkown mother's body, his only raison d'etre and the structural aspect of his personality. In fact, he can never abandon the transatlantic, where he dies in the final explosion. Max, the trumpeter, telling his story to the old instruments dealer, works through the loss of his grandiose fantasy of perfection and omnipotence, represented by his friend Nineteen Hundred, and he finds a safer dimension of creativity and life. As in the analytic encounter, the possibility to narrate one's story to someone capable of listening and holding, opens the way to the psychic change. Nineteen Hundred, on the contrary, represents the destructive/split part of the personality, unable to leave the grandiosity of the infant Self, compelled to die, becuase it is linked to primary fusionality and Ego Idea
32 PHOSPHORUS TRANSFER IN SYSTEMS OF FISH AND AMPHIPODS EXPLOITING DETRITUS PARTICLES
Detrital size preferences of the fish Mugil sp. and the amphipod Echinogammarus veneris were determined in the laboratory by P-32. Three different size-classes of leaf-detritus particles, inoculated with a fungus, were offered separately in 24-h experiments. Detritus P-32 increased with particle size, depending on the growth of microflora. Both species preferred the largest size-class. In mixed-species experiments, P-32 uptake by Mugil was significantly less than when it was alone. A similar P-32 transfer was measured in Mugil fed on the largest particles, previously utilized by E. veneris. This indicates that the feeding activity of the amphipod indirectly affects the detrital utilization by Mugil sp. It is suggested that the influence might depend on the microbial impoverishment and the change in the particle size
Laboratory study of the grass shrimp feeding preferences
Grass shrimps are very common in various aquatic habitats, and are generally considered omnivorous. But, despite the numerous studies on interspecific trophic interactions, few studies have evaluated their feeding strategy, especially by experimental approaches. In this study, we determined, in the absence of both intra and interspecific competitive interactions, the feeding preferences of the freshwater grass shrimp Palaemonetes antennarius for the most common potential resources in its habitat. Plant and animal items were offered as food to each adult shrimp in multiple-choice laboratory experiments. Resource selection was determined under conditions of low and high food availability and related to the shrimp body size. The role of microbial colonisation in favouring detritivory was also investigated. Results of these experiments showed that P. antennarius consumed only animal items, mostly preferring the isopod Proasellus coxalis. In addition, palatability of the unselected plant remains and non-living prey was not improved by the microbial enrichment. Shrimps also resorted to cannibalism at low ration. By contrast, at high ration they specialised on a narrower range of resources, directing more their feeding efforts towards isopods. The preference ranking of the selected food types was inversely related to the average mass of the prey and varied with the shrimp body size. In particular, the number of live isopods in the diet increased exponentially with the shrimp mass at food high ration, which resulted not to be limiting. In conclusion, food availability influences the food niche of P. antennarius whose feeding strategy in the laboratory is facultative specialisation on dead and live animals rather than omnivory. Ease of handling and/or capture seems to play a role in the food preference ranking
Competition between two aquatic detritivorous isopods - a laboratory study
The role of adult faeces in juvenile nutrition of two isopod species, Proasellus coxalis s.l. and Asellus aquaticus (L.), with similar trophic strategies and different reproductive output, has been studied in laboratory. Our aim was to consider the possible competitive mechanisms occurring at the beginning of the species coexistence using allopatric populations in single and mixed species experiments. Two series of competition experiments were performed. In the first, adult specimens were used for breeding and feeding trials. Both population dynamics and the percentage of ovigerous females and juveniles were evaluated during 10 months. Adult densities and juvenile percentage of A.aquaticus were lower in the presence of P. coxalis s.l. than when alone. At the end of the breeding experiments the dietary preferences of adults on a set of fungally conditioned leaf discs were not different among treatments. In the second series of experiments, the influence of coexistence on the feeding rates of young asellids and the relative importance of faeces and decaying plant material in their diet were investigated. Individual consumption by wild juveniles in multiple-choice laboratory experiments was measured by radioisotopes ((32)p). Juveniles of P. coxalis s.l. showed the highest ingestion rates. In co-occurrence, contrary to A.aquaticus, they were able to further increase feeding on parental faeces. The role of parental faeces in the diet of the two species juveniles and the competitive dominance of P. coxalis s.l. are discussed
