Food and beverage in 'Le chevalier délibéré'
Le chevalier delibere (1483) by Olivier de la Marche has an extensive hermit scene: the hermit receives the author, Acteur, gives him food and drink and instructs him in the important issues of life. Le chevalier delibere thus stands in two main Western European literary traditions: stories about hermits as such (who do or do not provide travellers with food and shelter) and stories in which food and drink have an allegorical function. This paper will discuss both traditions, without attempting to cover all hermit stories or all allegories about food and drink

Chevalier 22451</i> (syntype P barcode 00253523!).</p> <p> <b>Nomenclatural notes:</b> —When describing <i>C. compressa</i>, Chevalier (1917) cited his collections <i>16144, 16152, 22460</i>, and <i>22451</i>, without indicating the herbarium of deposit. These materials should be considered as syntypes (ICN Art. 9.6). Polhill (1964) mentions that the isolectotype (<i>Chevalier 22460</i>) is deposited in K. It is important to note, that no other author had designated the type (lectotype), therefore Polhill (1964) did an inadvertent lectotypification, because he was the first to mention the herbarium where this material was deposited. It is likely that Polhill (1964) suspected that the lectotype was in Paris, because Chevalier deposited his specimens in herbarium P. After consulting P’s database, we located three specimens referring to <i>A. Chevalier 22460</i>. Considering Chevalier (1917) did not specify the holotype, and that in P there are three specimens, we propose a second lectotypification step (ICN Art. 9.17) and designate the specimens in Herb. P with barcode 00253525 as lectotype (ICN Art. 9.3), since this specimen has more leaves and flowers.</p> <p> <b>Taxonomic notes:</b> —Synonym of <i>C. mildbraedii</i> (Sattarian <i>et al.</i> 2006).</p>Published as part of <i>Zamengo, Henrique Borges, Chamorro, Debora, Gaglioti, André Luiz & Pederneiras, Leandro Cardoso, 2023, Nomenclatural revision of the names of Celtis (Cannabaceae) described for Africa, and lectotypification of one Asian name, pp. 205-223 in Phytotaxa 603 (3)</i> on pages 209-210, DOI: 10.11646/phytotaxa.603.3.1, <a href="http://zenodo.org/record/8166665">http://zenodo.org/record/8166665</a>
"Lietuviški laiškai" [Lithuanian Letters] by Chevalier de Boudon as a means of intercultural communication
Reikšminiai žodžiai: Aristokratinė kultūra; Auklėjimo traktatas; Chevalier de Boudon; Chevalier de Boudonas; Imagologija; Kurtuazija; Laiškų romanas; Lietuvos įvaizdis; Tarpkultūriniai ryšiai; Aristocratic culture; Chevalier de Boudon; Courtesy; Educational treatise; Epistolary novel; Image of Lithuania; Imagology; Intercultural communication; The Image of LithuaniaThe article proposes to assess the letter as a means of intercultural communication. Almost unknown in Lithuania, the French author, Chevalier de Boudon‘s work has a certain historical-literary value and is capable forging intercultural ties. The research object is new, since the works by this author published in Vilnius in the 19th century have not yet received appropriate attention from Lithuanian researchers. The article is based on the French researcher, Marie-France de Palacio‘s analysis of de Boudon‘s works. The main focus of the article is on the image of Lithuania and its features which are depicted in de Boudon‘s books. It also discusses the activities of a home tutor, the specifics of epistolary writing, highlighting the communicative function of the French writer‘s works. The methodological analysis is based on a few comparative and imagological studies by such scholars as Henri Pageaux, Jean-Marc Moura, Yves Clavaron, and Alain Montandon

Jean-Claude Chevalier, Part and functions of journals in french linguistics development (1947-1997)
Having first defined the part played, and the function assumed by journals in scientific life, the author proposes an overwiew concerning the main developments in the after-war II french linguistics. Through examination of french journals creations and english and american ones reception, several sample surveys lead to conclusion that french linguistics presents a specific development, compared to what occurs in the international movement devoted to linguistic sciences. Jean-Claude Chevalier : F. Brunot (1860-1938) : the Fabrication of a Memory of the French Language
This article studies how the French linguist F. Brunot — author of the huge and famed History of the French language — was educated and how his career developed. It shows the way his conception of the history of the French language as memory was strongly determined not only by the French academic tradition, but also above all by the future Brunot envisioned for French society.Chevalier Jean-Claude.
