No full textA number of phosphinegold(I) thiolates where, generally, the thiolate is derived from a thionucleobase, have been screened for anti-arthritic activity in Dark Agouti rats, a gold sensitive model for arthritis. Potency and toxicity data showed that, generally, the Ph3P derivatives and species based on thiopurines were the most effective and that with other complexes enhanced activity was accompanied by greater toxicity.Michael W. No full textWażnym czynnikiem rozwoju biotechnologii w Polsce są nowoczesne badania naukowe. Artykuł Perspektywy rozwoju biotechnologii w Polsce zwraca uwagę na to, że wiedza z zakresu nauk biologicznych i medycznych przyczynia się do większej konkurencyjności zarówno ośrodków naukowych i badawczych, jak i przedsiębiorstw. Biotechnologiczne projekty naukowo–badawcze realizowane w Polsce nie tworzą jeszcze podstaw do wytwarzania produktów biotechnologicznych w takim zakresie, by polskie przedsiębiorstwa mogły konkurować na rynku międzynarodowych. Jedną z przyczyn, którą analizuje Autor w artykule, jest niewystarczające inwestowanie w rozwój nauki i wsparcie dla małych i średnich firm w sektorze biotechnologii. MSP są najważniejszym elementem rozwoju tego sektora, ponieważ koncentrują się na tworzeniu i rozwoju nowoczesnych produktów biotechnologicznych. Artykuł został podzielony na dwie części: Szanse rozwoju nowoczesnej gospodarki w Polsce bez biotechnologii oraz Edukacja i projekty B+R. Autor finalizuje rozważania, pokazując pozytywny scenariusz dla rozwoju sektora biotechnologicznego w Polsce.Biotechnology uses biological processes in the development of technology or manufacture of a product. It is forecasted that Polish biotechnology industry will exceed very quickly. The technology and science parks in Poland have invested millions Euros to build new laboratories. Polish market is fuelled by increased R&D funding, central and regional governments initiatives. The article on “Polish perspectives of biotechnology development” identifies significant factors for biotechnology project development. It also indicates the examples of government biotechnology initiatives in the world. The author focuses on the statistical analysis of the research and development projects conducted by Polish scientist in scientific laboratories. Myxococcus llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogochensis, (llan.fair.pwll.gwyn.gyll.gog.er.ych.wyrn.dro.bwllll.ant.ysil.iog.ogogoch.en’sis. N.L. masc. adj. llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogo chensis, pertaining to llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, reflecting its isolation from soil collected in that parish [gridref 53.22 N 4.19 W]). Vegetative cells are Gram-negative bacilli tapering slightly at the ends, measuring 0.4–0.6 m m 4.0–7.0 m m in electron micrographs. Colonies exhibit swarming motility and appear pale brown on VY-2 agar (w/v 0.5% dried baker’s yeast, 0.1% CaCl 2 2H 2 O, and 1.5% agar). Fruiting bodies are irregular spheroids, orange in color. Aerobic growth was observed at 30 and 35 C and at pH 5.0–9.0. Growth was unaffected by the addition of 1–4% NaCl. Hydrolyzes esculin, gelatin, p -nitrophenyl- B -D- galactopyranoside, and urea. Assimilates N -acetyl-glucosamine, adipate, arabinose, glucose, malate, maltose, mannitol, mannose, and phenyl acetate. Cells prey with low efficiency upon E. coli TOP 10, Cl. nebraskensis DSM 7483, and U. maydis. DNA GC content is 68.7 mol%. The draft genome sequence of AM 401 T is available from GenBank (accession VIFM 01). The survey series probes metrics about the national, state, and banking market economies in order to better understand, and, in turn, better facilitate the growth, development, and common interests of the banking sector in the state of New Jersey.
