    No full text
Will James Conner talks about his fifty years in the theater management business and shares some of the history of the Temple Theatre, which he ran from 1932 to 1975. Reflecting back on hundreds of stage shows, music productions, and motion pictures, Conner provides some insight into the changing face of entertainment and entertainment technology before, during, and after World War II. In addition to the Temple, Conner also managed a number of other Tacoma theaters, including the Blue Mouse, the Music Box, the Rialto, and the Roxy (now the Pantages), and he touches upon each of these during this lengthy, in-depth interview. The Will James Conner oral history interview forms the core of a class project by Barbara Smith for the Community History Project under the supervision of Professor Michael K. Honey. The contents of Smith's project are contained in a looseleaf binder, which includes the original sound recording and transcript of the interview, Smiths research paper, a video tour of the Temple recorded in February 1992, and related research materials. Also included are a number of scanned historical photographs showcasing the buildings original interior and exterior, a set of scanned photographs from 1991 documenting the building in preparation for its nomination to the Tacoma Register of Historic Places, and a set of thirteen color photographs taken by the interviewer in February 1992
