The Koszul property for spaces of quadrics of codimension three
No full textIn this paper we prove that, if k is an algebraically closed field of characteristic different from 2, almost all quadratic standard graded k-algebras R such that dimkR2=3 are Koszul. More precisely, up to graded k-algebra homomorphisms and trivial fiber extensions, we find out that only two (or three, when the characteristic of k is 3) algebras of this kind are non-Koszul. Moreover, we show that there exist nontrivial quadratic standard graded k-algebras with dimkR1=4, dimkR2=3 that are Koszul but do not admit a Gröbner basis of quadrics even after a change of coordinates, thus settling in the negative a question asked by Conca

No full textIl presente articolo intende ripercorrere le vicende storico-artistiche che videro coinvolto il monastero dello Spirito Santo alla Colonna Traiana, demolito nel 1812 in ottemperanza al piano di riqualificazione urbanistica promosso a Roma dal governo napoleonico. Attraverso l’analisi di fonti edite e inedite, non solo è stato possibile determinare le trasformazioni a cui l’apparato decorativo è stato sottoposto nel corso dei secoli, ma anche rintracciare diverse opere finora considerate disperse. Fondamentale per l’individuazione di questi dipinti è stata la ricostruzione della storia della comunità religiosa all’indomani della demolizione: le monache, infatti, si trasferirono presso il complesso di Santa Pudenziana, portando con loro diverse arredi e suppellettili, tra cui alcune tele della chiesa, a cui erano particolarmente legate per via del loro valore devozionale. Anzitutto, una pala laterale dell’altar maggiore, un Sant’Agostino e il bambino di Giacinto Gimignani, che, già da tempo ricondotta alla mano del pittore pistoiese, grazie alla presente ricostruzione trova conferme circa la provenienza e l’originaria collocazione. Il suo pendant, una Santa Monica e l’angelo dello stesso Gimignani, ha subìto una sorte diversa: immessa sul mercato antiquario in un momento non meglio precisato, essa si trova oggi nelle collezioni della Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia e Pescia. Presso Santa Pudenziana, invece, in un ambiente attualmente adibito a sagrestia, è stato possibile rintracciare anche un inedito Sant’Agostino di Luigi Garzi, ricordato dalle monache in un libro di memorie. Inoltre, nel corso delle ricerche si è individuata nella sacrestia della basilica di Sant’Antonio da Padova all’Esquilino una grande e anonima pala centinata raffigurante una Pentecoste. Non è dato sapere se l’opera abbia mai davvero fatto parte dell’apparato decorativo del monastero dello Spirito Santo; in ogni caso, la tela, databile grossomodo al secondo quarto del XVIII secolo, appare ascrivibile su base stilistica alla mano di Sebastiano Conca

No full textThis paper describes design and test of a new impedance-measurement system for nonlinear devices that exhibits a seven-decade range and works down to a frequency of 0.01 Hz. The system is specifically designed for electrochemical measurements, but the proposed architecture can be employed in many other fields where flexible signal generation and analysis are required. The system employs an unconventional signal generator based on two pulsewidth modulation (PWM) oscillators and an autocalibration system that allows uncertainties of less than 3% to be obtained over a range of 1 kΩ to 100 GΩ. No full textThe surgical treatment of end-stage ankle osteoarthritis (OA) is still demanding, with total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) and ankle arthrodesis (AA) as operative options. Particularly, the debate intensifies when considering postoperative return to sports and physical activities. This review aims to synthesize current research on these surgical interventions in relation to sports participation, athletic performance, and types of sports that can be tolerated postoperatively. Moreover, the review analyzes different surgical techniques used in TAA and evaluates patient-specific factors that influence the likelihood of returning to sports. The findings have considerable implications for clinicians in patient counseling and setting realistic postoperative expectations, particularly for those patients for whom athletic activity is a significant aspect of lifestyle
Pediatric ACL injuries: navigating the challenges and advancements in surgical reconstruction and rehabilitation strategies
No full textINTRODUCTION: ACL reconstruction in pediatric patients presents unique challenges due to the presence of growth plates and the potential for growth disturbances. Various surgical techniques have been developed to address these concerns, including physeal-sparing techniques such as the modified MacIntosh procedure and the all-epiphyseal technique, as well as the minimally invasive All Inside Technique. However, the occurrence of growth abnormalities and long-term outcomes in this population require further investigation. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION: This review examines existing literature on growth plate injuries and complications following ACL reconstruction in pediatric patients. A comprehensive search of relevant articles was conducted, including meta -analyses and case series, to gather evidence on the incidence and types of growth disturbances, surgical techniques employed, and functional outcomes. EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS: The analysis reveals that growth disturbances after ACL reconstruction can manifest as limb overgrowth, limb shortening, and angular malformation. Limb overgrowth appears to be independent of the surgical technique used, while limb shortening may result from misplacement of bone blocks or hardware across the growth plates. Valgus malalignment is the most common deformity observed. Physeal-sparing and transphyseal techniques show similar rates of growth abnormalities, highlighting the need for caution in surgical decision -making. CONCLUSIONS: ACL reconstruction in pediatric patients requires careful consideration of growth plate preservation and choice of surgical technique. While favorable functional outcomes and high patient satisfaction have been reported, further investigation through randomized controlled trials is needed to address methodological limitations and refine the management of ACL injuries in this population. Proper rehabilitation and guidance are crucial for a successful return to sports and minimizing the risk of re -injury. Future research should focus on understanding the risk factors, technical features, and underlying mechanisms associated with growth disturbances to develop strategies that minimize these complications and optimize outcomes for young athletes

No full textA quasi trent’anni dall’emanazione del Regolamento comunitario 2137/1985 che ne segna la data di nascita, e a venticinque dalla effettiva possibilità di costituzione, il gruppo europeo di interesse economico (GEIE) è ancora percepito, nella migliore delle ipotesi, come una specie di “oggetto misterioso” nel panorama giuridico italiano ed europeo. Lo scopo di questo studio, che ha beneficiato del sostegno economico della Commissione Europea e della Provincia autonoma di Trento nell’ambito del Settimo Programma Quadro, Azione Marie Curie COFUND, progetto “TRENTINO”, è di tentare una riconduzione ragionata del GEIE a categorie che siano di maggiore familiarità per il giurista italiano, indagandone le problematiche principali (su tutte l’assenza del beneficio della responsabilità limitata dei membri per le obbligazioni assunte dal gruppo) ed offrendo ipotesi di soluzione
