Social software product lines
Software product lines are an engineering paradigm meant to systematically configure software products of reusable assets so that development effort and time are minimized. Config-uring a high-quality product is a challenging design activity, main-ly because quality is a dynamic property and hardly predictable by designers at design time. In this position paper, we propose Social Software Product Lines (SSPL) as a new development paradigm which involves users as collaborators in judging software products quality and guiding configuration in a lifelong style. SSPL para-digm advocates two principles. The first is that quality has to be evaluated iteratively during the product operation so that quality evaluation is maintained up-to-date. The second is that users are the main evaluator of quality and their feedback is a primitive driver of reconfiguration. At runtime, SSPL keeps obtaining users’ quality feedback and planning upon reconfiguration to deliver the product shown most adequate by the users’ community. We discuss motivations and foundations of SSPL and outline a set of research directions
Assessment of the statistical relevance of TR-PIV datasets
The increasing interest for high repetition rate global optical measurement techniques such as Time-Resolved Particle Image Velocimetry (TR-PIV) raises a number of questions concerning their ability to provide relevant statistical and spectral quantities. In an effort to address this issue, complementary TR-PIV and Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) measurements have been carried out. An application to the analysis of the detached flow over a NACA 0015 airfoil at a Reynolds number Re=105 in a water tunnel is proposed
Between-centre differences and treatment effects in randomized controlled trials: a case study in traumatic brain injury.
BACKGROUND: In Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), large between-centre differences in outcome exist and many clinicians believe that such differences influence estimation of the treatment effect in randomized controlled trial (RCTs). The aim of this study was to assess the influence of between-centre differences in outcome on the estimated treatment effect in a large RCT in TBI. METHODS: We used data from the MRC CRASH trial on the efficacy of corticosteroid infusion in patients with TBI. We analyzed the effect of the treatment on 14 day mortality with fixed effect logistic regression. Next we used random effects logistic regression with a random intercept to estimate the treatment effect taking into account between-centre differences in outcome. Between-centre differences in outcome were expressed with a 95% range of odds ratios (OR) for centres compared to the average, based on the variance of the random effects (tau2). A random effects logistic regression model with random slopes was used to allow the treatment effect to vary by centre. The variation in treatment effect between the centres was expressed in a 95% range of the estimated treatment ORs. RESULTS: In 9978 patients from 237 centres, 14-day mortality was 19.5%. Mortality was higher in the treatment group (OR = 1.22, p = 0.00010). Using a random effects model showed large between-centre differences in outcome (95% range of centre effects: 0.27- 3.71), but did not substantially change the estimated treatment effect (OR = 1.24, p = 0.00003). There was limited, although statistically significant, between-centre variation in the treatment effect (OR = 1.22, 95% treatment OR range: 1.17-1.26). CONCLUSION: Large between-centre differences in outcome do not necessarily affect the estimated treatment effect in RCTs, in contrast to current beliefs in the clinical area of TBI
Kustnot
A Preliminary Statistical Investigation into the impact of an N-Gram Analysis Approach based on Word Syntactic Categories toward Text Author Classification
Quantitative analysis of literary style has heretofore utilized semantic elements-word counts. This research attempts to identify quantifiable syntactic elements of style that can be used for author identification. The measurement of syntactic elements utilizes a dictionary with one part of speech per word and looks at phrases delimited by punctuation marks. Different size permutations of words - referred to as grams - are counted within each text. Correlations are measured amongst the gram frequencies of eight texts pertaining to four authors, both contemporary and non-contemporary. The correlations are performed across different gram sizes of words. The same treatment is applied to a target text, the Funeral Elegy text. The approach holds for classifying texts temporally consistently across the various gram sizes. Yet a finer grained investigation is required to certify the authorship of the Funeral Elegy text.

pmTR database: Population matched (pm) germline allelic variants of T-cell receptor (TR) loci
The IMGT database profiles the TR germline alleles for all four TR loci (TRA, TRB, TRG and TRD), however, it does not comprise of the information regarding population specificity and allelic frequencies of these germline alleles. The specificity of allelic variants to different human populations can, however, be a rich source of information when studying the genetic basis of population-specific immune responses in disease and in vaccination. Therefore, we meticulously identified true germline alleles enriched with complete TR allele sequences and their frequencies across 26 different human populations, profiled by “1000 Genomes data”. We identified 205 TRAV, 249 TRBV, 16 TRGV and 5 TRDV germline alleles supported by at least four haplotypes. The diversity of germline allelic variants in the TR loci is the highest in Africans, while the majority of the Non-African alleles are specific to the Asian populations, suggesting a diverse profile of TR germline alleles in different human populations. Interestingly, the alleles in the IMGT database are frequent and common across all five super-populations. We believe that this new set of germline TR sequences represents a valuable new resource which we have made available through the new population-matched TR (pmTR) database, accessible via https://pmtrig.lumc.nl/.Pattern Recognition and Bioinformatic
RO(S1)-graded TR-groups of Fp, Z and ℓ
AbstractWe give an algorithm for calculating the RO(S1)-graded TR-groups of Fp, completing the calculation started by the second author. We also calculate the RO(S1)-graded TR-groups of Z with mod p coefficients and of the Adams summand ℓ of connective complex K-theory with V(1)-coefficients. These calculations are used elsewhere to compute the algebraic K-theory of certain Z-algebras
Development of Interpersonal Mindfulness Scale-TR (IMS-TR): A Validity and Reliability Study
The purpose of this study is to develop an Interpersonal Mindfulness Scale-TR (IMS-TR) for Turkish culture. For the data collection process, four different sample groups participated in the study. To test the construct validity of the scale an exploratory factor analysis was performed. Results suggested a 13-item, two-factor solution as (1) awareness and (2) being in the moment. Two-factor structure explains 50.65% of the variance. A confirmatory factor analysis results showed good fit for two-factor solution. The Mindfulness in Parenting Questionnaire and the Mindfulness in Marriage Scale were used to examine a convergent validity and positive significant relationships were found between the scales. To test the reliability of the scale Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient of the overall scale was determined to be .826. To determine the stability coefficient of the IMS-TR, test-retest method was used and according to result there is a positive relationship between the scales. According to all of these results, it can be said that the IMS-TR has a validity and reliability. © 2020 The Author(s
Building a culture of research: Using undergraduate research to advance the TR profession, build research capacity, and foster collaborative relationships
The purpose of this paper is to provide a rationale for rethinking the role of undergraduate research and to describe Douglas College's innovative approach to developing a research culture through fostering undergraduate therapeutic recreation (TR) students' research skills. In the literature review we. build the case for an undergraduate research-based curriculum as an essential step in building a research culture. A research skills development framework (Willison & O'Regan, 2007) is presented as a way to view research skills and to understand how a student might progress and develop research competence. The role of collaboration is examined as an intimate and essential aspect of building a research culture. We present the initiatives and ideas that Douglas College has used in its quest to create a research ethos that embraces not only the TR Department but also the TR community, and conclude by outlining future steps to continue the work at Douglas, including reaching out to other educational institutions to collaborate on research projects. Art and the artist in the literary works of Elsa Triolet
This thesis takes a representative selection of Triolet's works to study the themes of writing and creativity as they are presented in the novels. These are all portraits of artists and the accounts of the search for a synthesis of aesthetic freedom and ethical responsibility. It considers Triolet's importance as a foreign writer, adopting a new creative language to be adopted by a different cultural
environment, to be essential in understanding her importance to the French literary tradition. By emphasising her formative years in the avant-garde circles of prerevolutionary Russia, my study demonstrates her considerable contribution to the meeting of Russian and French aesthetic theories. I extend this with close textual
readings of certain works to demonstrate her techniques in novelistic construction which reveal many Formalist practices before Formalist works in translation made
their official influence on creative methods.
The introduction considers the reasons for Triolet's neglect as a writer. It then considers various contemporary and recent critical appraisals which indicate
the interest she has received until present and which allow me to define my own critical approach. Part One traces Triolet's literary evolution from her formative
years in Russia, through exile to her first publications in Russian. It then considers her insertion into French literary activity, and her association with the schools of
socialist realism and the "nouveau roman".
Part Two examines two traditional novels which portray the creative and metaphorical roles of the artist and his work, showing the constant conflict between private and public lives. In Part Three, I show how aspects of novelistic
traditionalism are gradually foregrounded so that the work develops a dual-sided character where it both narrates and examines the processes of its own narration. In Part Four, this move to highly self-conscious aesthetics demonstrates an idiosyncratic exploration of new paths for the novel that bring visual, auditive and cinematographic media into the traditional domain of written art. Accompanying
the very post-modernist experimentation, I show how this research within the novel into the novel's own future has an ethical and redemptive purpose whose final conclusion is that creativity and human freedom are inexorably interwoven
