    Domnik Cobos (MA 2022) was interviewed by Princess Igwe-Icho in the Oral History Studio in Fondren Library at Southern Methodist University on February 20, 2023. He discusses his childhood, family, culture, and education, and talks about growing up in a Latino neighborhood with his large Mexican family. He shares his experiences of walking to school with his brothers, spending time outdoors, and playing sports. Mr. Cobos also talks about the culture of his family, where family comes first, and hard work is emphasized. He describes his experiences of being mixed and having a white mother. He shares how his conflicted feelings about working as a drilling fluids engineer for an oil and gas company led to his interest in combating climate change. He transitioned to teaching, then decided to pursue his master’s degree. His brother’s experience in SMU’s MBA program led Domnik to realize that SMU was making room for Latino students, leading to him choosing to attend. He graduated from SMU wi
