The image of Steven Yinawanga, (seated at the computer) and his fellow student Stuart Martin at the Batchelor Institute. Steven, a mature aged Indigenous gentleman embracing modern technology to advance his skills in his chosen course of the promotion of innovation and change. Steven and Stuart were helping each other as they put together a business plan that covered the skills and knowledge required to promote the use and implementation of innovative work practices to effect change in their communities. I love the intense concentration on Stevens's face as he slowly, but surely, tapped away at the keyboard whilst Stuart quietly gave directions in his native language.Clark, Darren

Coomalie Creek airfield was a World War 2 airfield. The North West Area Headquarters were located approximately 6 kms south along the Stuart Highway and Coomalie Creek was located only 10 miles from Batchelor Airfield. During World War 2 the RAAF Mosquitos and Beaufighters were flying out of Coomalie Airfield bound for Timor and Indonesia on bombing and reconnaissance missions. The airfield still exists today and is part of Coomalie Farm owned by Richard Luxton. Every year in August the airfield is opened to the public for the long weekend to commemorate VJ Day on the 15th of August, which marked the end of the Second World War.Clark, Darren

Northern Territory Film Office. The Old Alice Springs Courthouse was originally designed for use as the Administration Office of Central Australia. These offices were established in 1926 following the formal recognition of Central Australia as an independent region under the North Australia Act. Construction of the building began in 1927 and by November 1928 it was sufficiently completed for occupation. Prior to its construction the local court of Alice Springs was based at the Telegraph Station. As the town's population increased, and Stuart (Alice Springs) was identified as the future capital of Central Australia, the court moved its offices into the township itself. The old Courthouse was used both for government offices and the court.Clark, Darren.Date:2011-0

When you enter Tennant Creek from the south you are greeted by the Nynkka Nyunyu Art and Culture Centre on your left, the center is a major undertaking of the Waramungu people of the Barkly region, and is a community developed initiative of Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation, it is located next to a Waramanga sacred site. The Nyinkka Nyunyu centre is located on the corner off Paterson St and the Stuart Highway and the area is the home of the spiky tailed goanna. The centre features an art gallery, multimedia display, retail outlet, cafe, community spaces and an arid zone garden with two traditional dance rings for men and women's performances. The architectural form is an abstract of the spiky tailed goanna. The Waramungu people, as traditional owners for the Nyinkka Nyunyu sacred site, requested a building that echoed the form of the goanna with its spiky scales.Clark, Darren.Date:2012-0
