Il sistema economico dell'area metropolitana di Bari: struttura e specializzazioni territoriali
In the present work, after a brief review of the economic literature on industrial districts, clusters and other forms of territorial agglomeration of firms, an analysis of the distribution of firms and employees across the municipalities of the metropolitan area of Bari (the main province of the Apulia region in Southern Italy) is presented. This is based on ISTAT data (Industry and Services Census, 2001 and 2011) and aims at identifying the distinctive features of the economic structure at the local level as well as the main changes characterising the model of local development in the period between the two census surveys. All in all, main results highlight an overall consolidation of the processes of expansion of intangible activities and deindustrialisation of the economy, with an increase in the share of employees within the tertiary sector at the detriment of industry: trade and services turn out to be the most vibrant sectors of the economy, whereas manufacturing activities are experiencing increasing job losses, which points to a progressive shift of intangible activities from large vertically integrated manufacturing firms to other firms specialised in services. With respect to the 2001 figures, however, very few differences emerge concerning the productive specialisations of the municipalities in the different sectors, at least compared to the same trend at the regional level.
The first synthesis of the N-glucosyl analogue of the antitumor agent etoposide
The first synthesis of 1-aminoglucose analogue of the antitumor agent etoposide is accomplished by condensation of 4,6-tO-ethylidene-2,3-di-tO-trimethylsilyl-β-D-glucopyranosylamine with 4-bromo-4-deoxy-4′-demethylepipodophyllotoxin in the presence of Hg(CN)2

A simple method for the reduction of the 7,8-double bond of steroidal 5,7-dienes
1,4-Cycloadducts of various steroidal 5,7-dienes and 4-phenyl-1-2-4-triazoline-3,5-dione gave a separable mixture (3 : 2) of the corresponding Δ5- and Δ7-sterols in good yield when treated with lithium dissolved in refluxing rthylamine
A NEW SIMPLE SYNTHESIS OF 1,3-DIDEUTERATED MALONDIALDEHYDE (3-HYDROXY[1,3-(H-2)-2]-2-PROPENAL)
A synthetic route for obtaining 1-butoxy-1,3,3-triethoxy[1,3-H-2(2)]propane a stable diacetal of the malondialdehyde, is described. The synthesis involves the condensation of deuterated butyl vinyl ether with deuterated triethyl orthoformate in the presence of montmorillonite clay K-10. The deuteration of butyl vinyl ether was accomplished via the intermediary formation of a stannane derivative which was quantitatively metallated by n-butyllithium and then treated with (H2O)-H-2. From the diacetal the 1,3-dideuterated malondialdehyde was obtained by a short treatment with acid ion exchange resin
A Multi-Sensor Fusion Approach Based on PIR and Ultrasonic Sensors Installed on a Robot to Localise People in Indoor Environments
This work illustrates an innovative localisation sensor network that uses multiple PIR and ultrasonic sensors installed on a mobile social robot to localise occupants in indoor environments. The system presented aims to measure movement direction and distance to reconstruct the movement of a person in an indoor environment by using sensor activation strategies and data processing techniques. The data collected are then analysed using both a supervised (Decision Tree) and an unsupervised (K-Means) machine learning algorithm to extract the direction and distance of occupant movement from the measurement system, respectively. Tests in a controlled environment have been conducted to assess the accuracy of the methodology when multiple PIR and ultrasonic sensor systems are used. In addition, a qualitative evaluation of the system's ability to reconstruct the movement of the occupant has been performed. The system proposed can reconstruct the direction of an occupant with an accuracy of 70.7% and uncertainty in distance measurement of 6.7%
A new synthesis of brassino steroids: Plant growth promoting steroids
(22R,23R)- and (22S,23S)-2α,3α,22,23-Tetrahydroxy-B-homo-7-oxa- 5α-ergostan-6-one, two physiologically active brassino steroids, have been synthesized via key intermediate brassicasterol obtained in a very simple way by reduction with lithium dissolved in ethylamine of the 1,4-cycloadduct of ergosterol and 4-phenyl-1,2,4-triazoline-3,5-dione
Localization of Older People in an Indoor Scenario: A Measurement System Based on PIR Sensors Installed in a Social Robot
People detection is widely used in remote health monitoring and smart homes. Passive infrared (PIR) sensors are the most used devices-free detection system for their affordability, non-invasiveness, low power consumption and high accuracy. However, there are still many challenges related to analyzing digital output data to extract useful information with multi-PIR systems. Thus, in this paper we propose a measurement system composed of multi-PIR sensors mounted on the head of a mobile social robot in which the granularity of the overlapped field of view (FoV) of sensors are considered to increase the localization accuracy. In addition, a Decision Tree (DT) classifier algorithm is trained on the system data to improve the localization accuracy. The results show that the accuracy of the system is 96% for tests performed in controlled environments when subjects have gait movement constraints. The accuracy of the system decreases (83.3%) when no constraints are applied
