The technological progress which dynamizes the process of mediatization, makes communication become transformed. Communiques are built on the basis of image and features of image which is a carrier of various functions, where the rhetorical persuasion is the main function. The present considerations are an analysis of examples of signs of mediatization of man and society as a phenomenon which is founded on the object of communiques formulated by man by means of digital media and communiques built without their contribution. A common feature of these acts of communication is imagery which seems to be a perennial tendency of the human mind and is visible already on the level of the language of words. Ethics of intimacy in film reportage – boundaries or horizons of vision. The expansion of the image code as a determinant of the material of messages in a mediated reality entails significant changes on many levels of digital society life. The speed of the image and strong persuasion of image messages, which results from the impression of the unquestionable authenticity, the bond with the truth interpreted by man as a reflection of facts or actual reality, becomes a tool in the sphere of business, media, politics and private life. They become a tool that persuades people to ”buy”, ”watch”, ”receive”, ”choose”, ”attract”. The aim of this article is to try to show some ethical aspects of the intimacy presented in the film reportage. The analyzes are an attempt to answer the question whether ethics constitutes limits or horizons of vision in presenting intimacy in a film reportage

The author writes about discourse considering not only its linguistic but also cognitive and interactive aspects. This understanding focuses on the broadly understood social context of discourse including, inter alia, its organizational and cultural aspects. In order to analyse the discourse of Radio Maryja as an ideological one, the author uses cultural linguistics devices such as the linguistic picture of the world, viewpoint, perspective and profiling. Those devices help to describe ‘The Other’ in the studied discourse, the characteristics of ‘The Other’ and the relationship between ‘The Other’ and the community centred around Radio Maryja

A LITERARY TEXT AS A WORK OF ART (BASED ON SELECTED PUBLIC DISCUSSIONS REPORTED IN POLISH PERIODICALS AFTER 1989)

    No full text
In the sketch the author raises the issue concerning the presence of a literary text in the contemporary social-media consciousness.  At the outset the author draws two poles: the elite and egalitarian one, then, she passes to analysing public discourses which took place in the last century in cultural periodicals (“Znak”, “Tygodnik Powszechny”). One of the crucial conclusions of her observations is the judgement according to which a literary masterpiece has been in the last centuries as if less a piece of art and become more a place of exchanging a thought and social discourse

Dyskursy dyskryminacji i tolerancji we współczesnej polskiej przestrzeni publicznej : (wartości, postawy, strategie)

The main aim of this thesis is to expose not only acts of discrimination and tolerance which are present in polish public but also attitudes, values and ideologies that are connected. Discourse analysis is methodological context of author’s consideration. Because of ambiguous definition of the discourse the first part of the thesis is concentrated on determination of the author’s self-conception of the crucial term. It is based on research traditions of current humanities so the author uses discourse conceptions developed in sociology and linguistics. A linguistic perspective accommodates French and English attitude, it also appeals to native researches. The theoretical and methodological part of the thesis applies to understanding the text category because of the fact that understanding the discourse category of different attitudes is in conflict with polish text conception. The author inspired by Michael Foucault’s writings determines her own discourse conception which treats the discourse as an abstract, paramount unit of language organization. It also distinguishes this category from the text which is an individual and material entity. Identification and description of exclusion and tolerance gestures needs implementation of The Other category who is treated by the author as the one who does not belong to the community and is different because of the world view, value system, lifestyle or creed. On the grounds of the analysis of feminist, nationalist, conservative, ecclesial and “Tygodnik Powszechny” discourse the author reconstructs The Other’s images, ways of profiling them and presents communities’ discursive attitudes toward The Otherness. In the thesis there are also presented values and beliefs connected with the discursive world’s conceptualization. The author avoids arbitrary classification of analysed discourses as tolerance or exclusion discourses but shows that in each of them there are not only rules of exclusion, but also rules of tolerance
