A genetic algorithm for flexible job-shop problem

    No full text
In this paper, we present a genetic algorithm for the Flexible Job-shop Scheduling Problem (FJSP). The algorithm integrates different strategies for generating the initial population, selecting the individuals for reproduction and reproducing new individuals. Computational result shows that the integration of more strategies in a genetic framework leads to better results, with respect to other genetic algorithms. Moreover, results are quite comparable to those obtained by the best-known algorithm, based on tabu search. These two results, together with the flexibility of genetic paradigm, prove that genetic algorithms are effective for solving FJSP. (C) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved

Polynomial algorithms for a two-class multiprocessor scheduling problem in mobile telecommunications systems

The problem of assigning information packets of different services to time slots of a radio frame is addressed. Packet sizes are divisible, and a maximum time slot to which a packet can be assigned is given. We present a polynomial-time scheduling algorithm maximizing the number of scheduled packets

UNA NUOVA ASSOCIAZIONE DI GHIAIONI CALCAREI NELL’APPENNINO CENTRALE

A new plant association describing the dominated Lamium garganicum subsp. striatum vegetation is here proposed. This vegetation occurs on the calcareous screes with medium-size stones in the lower subalpine belt of the Abruzzo region and it is linked to environment with some nitrate content. The association is included in the Apennine alliance Linario-Festucion dimorphae

This paper describes the vegetation with Stipellula capensis in the Abruzzo region (Central Italy). The species is a terophyte with a strictly Mediterranean distribution and it is generally present in sub-nitrophilous pastures of small annual plants, on thin soils often rich in small clasts. The area investigated is an inter-mountain basin that is characterized by a Meso-Mediterranean Sub-humid climate with a high level of continentality. For the investigated plant communities, the new association Convolvulo elegantissimi-Stipelluletum capensis is described, within the syntaxa Hypochaeridenion achyrophori/Hypochaeridion achyrophori/ Brachypodietalia distachyae/Tuberarietea guttatae. The association is the last regressive stage of the brush-tree vegetation within the climatophilous and thermophilous series of Quercus pubescens s.l. (Roso sempervirentis-Querco vigilianae sigmetum)

Contribution to the syntaxonomy of rare tall sedge community in central apennine (Umbria-Italy): I. Caricetum buxbaumii

This contribution describes a new plant association of marshy meadows, named Deschampsio cespitosae-Caricetum buxbaumii ass. nova hoc loco, occurring in the karstic basins of Sibillini Mountains (Pian Grande, Pian Piccolo and Savelli-Castel S. Maria, Umbria Region) between 1000-1350 m above sea level. The new association is distinguished from Ranunculo-Caricetum buxbaumii Pedrotti 2016 and Galio palustris-Caricetum buxbaumii Ciaschetti & al. 2020 for its floristic and ecological features. After the comparison with the original tables of Issler's Caricetum buxbaumii and Ritter-Studnicka’s Valeriano-Caricetum buxbaumii, all Apennine associations belong to Caricion gracilis alliance, and are southern synvicariants of the Caricetum buxbaumii Issler 1933 of Central Europe
