Die Arbeit befasst sich mit dem Thema der Selbstentfaltung im Kontext von Politik, Religion und der Liebesbeziehung der Hauptfiguren Klara und Johannes. Das Werk ist durchdrungen von Naturmotiven, mit denen der Autor den Zustand des Staates und der Beziehungen zwischen den Menschen in Polen philosophisch beschreibt. Die Hauptthese der Arbeit ist, dass die Selbstentfaltung den Mikro- und Makrokosmos der Welt des Staates und der Religion, aber auch der Liebe beeinflusst.U ovom diplomskom radu riječ je o samorazvoju u djelu poznatog austrijskog autora Nikolaus Lenau, Klara Hebert. Diplomski rad se bavi pitanjem samorazvoja u kontekstu politike, religije i ljubavnog odnosa glavnih protagonista Klare i Johannesa. Djelo je prožeto motivima prirode kroz koje autor na filozofijski način opisuje stanje države i odnosa među ljudima u Poljskoj. Glavna teza rada je da samorazvoj utječe na mikro- i makro- kozmos svijeta države, religije, ali i ljubavi.This thesis is about Self-development in the work of the famous Austrian author Nikolaus Lenau, Klara Herbert. The thesis deals with the issue of self-development in the context of politics, religion and the love relationship of the main protagonists Klara and Johannes. No full textSometimes the characters in Ernest Hebert\u27s Darby Chronicles hew close to real life. When the author was a college student pulling shifts part time at a hospital laundry, he worked alongside a woman in her fifties--unadorned, sweet-natured, and with long gray-black hair that was her pride. Nights, Hebert frequented the beer bar in Keene, New Hampshire, where he encountered a sassy, self-empowered, forty-something bleached blonde who could bamboozle any man she met. Borrowing qualities from these women, Hebert would shape one of his most memorable characters: Estelle, the witch of the Jordan clan.
A major character in earlier Darby novels A Little More Than Kin and Whisper My Name, Estelle takes center stage in The Passion of Estelle Jordan. Presently she is sliding into late middle age, drawn to two lovers who could not be more different: the widowed farmer Avalon Hillary and a mysterious young punk Estelle calls Trans Am in honor of the car he drives. And there\u27s a threat, not to Estelle--she can take care of herself--but to Noreen Cook, a younger woman Estelle sees as a version of her own secret, vulnerable self. Putting herself in Noreen\u27s shoes to save her, Estelle may be in for way more than she bargained for. The Passion of Estelle Jordan, like that of Christ, is rife with sin, suffering, sacrifice, and perhaps redemption.

From the arsenal of democracy to 0% financing: Promotional communication at General Motors
No full textThis dissertation is a study of the commercial media system situated within the political economy of communication. Through a case study of General Motor’s promotional communication, this dissertation investigates how commercial propaganda, such as public relations (PR) and advertising, influence the commercial media. From 1990 to 2009, GM became a financial powerhouse through General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC), its financial subsidiary. At the same time, GM increased production of SUVs. This dissertation examines how GM’s promotional communication supported these two trends. Through ads, GM sold SUVs using lucrative financial promotions. GM’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) complemented this approach by safetywashing GM’s SUVs through community programs. Thus, despite widely reported safety problems, many Americans believed SUVs to be safe. Likewise, GM used greenwashing PR and CSR to portray the corporation as environmentally conscious while lobbying against Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) regulations. Through these PR and advertising campaigns, GM successfully countered criticism and shifted public opinion around auto safety and environmental regulations. When GM faced bankruptcy in 2009, the corporation used promotional communication to influence the debate over the auto bailout. In the years since the bailout, the auto industry remains surprisingly similar to the 1990s and 2000s. Despite their impact on consumer safety and the environment, SUVs are popular worldwide.
