No full textJulian J. Chisolm II was an instructor in entomology at the University of Maryland from 1943 until 1949. Chisolm also acted as the unofficial campus photographer during his tenure at the University. The collection contains images and negatives depicting crabbing and the stages in the shedding of a hard crab's shell; sporting and social events at Chevy Chase Junior College; a Maryland Fox Hunter's Association meet; a Baltimore and Ohio Railroad train wreck; buildings and iron work at the University of Maryland; snakes; and amphibians. No full textMary Aragona speaks with Dr. Theresa Chisolm, a professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) and vice provost for strategic planning, performance and accountability, about the growth and changes she has witnessed in the department and the profession of communication sciences and disorders. Chisolm recounts how CSD moved away from a five-year only program, where students did not earn a bachelor’s degree, to offering bachelor, AuD, and PhD degrees and how the department moved from rented apartments off campus to the current location on campus. The University of South Florida likewise has grown from a mainly commuter college to a Research I university during her time. She remembers the early major community partners as the school districts of Hillsborough and Central Florida as well as the VA hospital at Bay Pines. The VA partnered with CSD to provide PhD students a training center—one of four in the United States. She also observed that speech-pathology and audiology grew up in the VA system as many veterans of WWII suffered from hearing loss. Chisolm concludes the interview by commenting on the excellence of the program and the discipline itself

Emmett Scott was the segregated high school for African-Americans, which was named after Emmett Scott, a former aide to Booker T. Washington and President Woodrow Wilson. The school opened in 1920 and closed in 1970 when full integration was implemented in Rock Hill, SC schools. In this interview, Mr. Chisolm was a 1957 graduate of Emmett Scott High School. He attended Cherry Grove Elementary and West End Elementary before going to Emmett Scott.
