Gathered around a virtual place such as a Forum, people affected by HCV are the cross-section of a society struggling with one of the most pressing human problems: Health. Around this litteral-vital node, individual and collective issues, medical and psychological components, economic and sociaological assessments intertwine. Recently, the situation has greatly evolved: new drugs are now approved and prescribed, while in the last few years they had just been in their testing process. Depending onthe priority access to treatments, the acquired better knowledge, the psychological and biological response of the individual, public financed therapies and the cautious scientific classification of the pathology have opened up to new scenarios.
However, traditional methods are still largely widespread. The following sociological analysis will present the study of the current situation of HCV patients with some outlooks on the near future

Tracing a Vitaliano Brunelli story
This article analyzes an early fifteenth-century episode discussed in the synthesis of the medieval history of Zadar by the author Vitalino Brunelli. To prove that a strong pro-Venetian faction had existed in Zadar even before 1409, the goal of which was to hand the town over to Venice, Brunelli created a persuasive picture by skilfully combining extant data and falsifying annotations. This article relies on the prosopographies of some of the individuals mentioned in the Brunelli story to uncover tricks that the author used and to disprove the validity of his thesis

Modulation of innate immunity occurs in AAA, which is an evolution of the atherothrombotic plaque. Monocytes display considerable heterogeneity, and three subsets are identified, based on the differential expression of CD14 and CD16 receptor: the classical CD16- monocytes and the activated CD16+ monocytes, further differentiated into CD14++CD16+ and CD14+CD16+ cells. CD143(ACE) is overexpressed during monocyte/macrophage differentiation.
Higher CD16+ cell number and CD143 expression are present during inflammatory diseases, such as Chronic Kidney disease (CKD). Plasma D-dimer is increased in patients with AAA, and might contribute to the circulating pro-inflammatory setting.
Aim of our work was to determine the monocyte subsets frequency in AAA patients, and its relationship with D-dimer levels, renal function and other parameters of inflammation.
Peripheral blood from 76 patients with large (>55 mm) AAA, and 24 healthy controls was analyzed to determine monocytic CD14++CD16+ and CD14+CD16+ frequencies and CD143 expression by flowcytometry.
AAA patients have higher frequency of CD14++CD16+ and similar levels of CD14+CD16+ monocytes when compared to Controls. In AAA patients, raised D-dimer levels(r:0.440), age (r:0.310), reduced eGFR (r: -0.237) predict increases of CD14++CD16+ counts, while increased levels of Cystatin C (r:0.489), of uric acid (r: 0.277), of monocyte CD143 (r:0.241), and reduced white blood cell count (r:-0.300) predicted increases of CD14+CD16+ counts .
In conclusion, in AAA patients:1) we found a selective expansion of CD14++CD16+ monocyte subset, when compared with Controls; 2) we provided evidence for heterogeneity within the CD16+ monocytes, by
attributing specific relationship between circulating subsets and cell-associated biochemical and inflammatory biomarkers

Accountability for climate change: a research synthesis through the lenses of the integrated thinking approach
Purpose – The increasing responsibility of organisations towards society and the environment has inverted the relationship between accounting and accountability, leading to accountability-based accounting systems. This study aims to explore the debate on accountability for climate change within the integrating thinking (IT) perspective. Ascertaining the most significant trends in the debate around purposes and performance that characterise climate mitigation engagement and their connections, the study would explore if and to what extent organisations are tackling climate actions.
Design/methodology/approach – A narrative review of the extensive academic literature developed from the Kyoto Protocol to date was performed. After selecting a representative sample, papers were analysed with the support of a new analytical framework that involves three dimensions – answerability, enforcement and outcome – and governance schemes that emerge from the involvement of the private and public sector and civil society. With the support of NVivo software, themes arisen were analysed and coded. Key items were labelled, creating specific nodes and synthesised into the proposed framework.
Findings – A “silo approach” largely characterises the debate on accountability for climate change. The most significant reasons behind the shortcomings of extant climate actions may be retrieved firstly in the weakness of the motivations that guide organisations to operate in a climate-friendly way.
Social implications – This study underlines the need for a 360° integrated approach for strategically tackling climate actions.
Originality/value – This study would represent a further step towards an integrated approach for studying organisations behaviours in the “climate war”, embracing the connectivity between purposes and outcomes, capitals and the relationships amongst the various stakeholders

Acetyl-L-carnitine prevents serotonin-induced behavioural sensitization and dishabituation in Hirudo medicinalis
Several studies suggest that acetyl-L-carnitine (ALC) might influence learning processes. Along this line of investigation, we have previously shown that ALC impaired sensitization and dishabituation induced by nociceptive stimulation of the dorsal skin of the leech Hirudo medicinalis, in the behavioral paradigm of the swim induction (SI). In previous works we showed that 5HT was involved in both sensitization and dishabituation of SI acting through the second messenger cAMP.
In this work, we have reported that for given doses and temporal ranges ALC was able to block sensitization and to impair dishabituation mimicked by the injection of 5-HT or 8Br-cAMP, a
membrane permeable analogue of cAMP. Our results show that a single treatment with 2 mM ALC was the most effective concentration to block the onset of sensitization induced by 5-HT injection and its major effects occurred 11 days after ALC treatment. 2 mM ALC also blocked sensitization induced by 8Br-cAMP injection, whereas, ALC did not completely abolish dishabituation induced by 5-HT or 8Br-cAMP injection at the tested concentrations and at every time point
