Hanno contribuito al volume Eleonora Belpassi, Carlo Bianchini, Lucia Cappelli, Domenico Ciccarello, Rossano De Laurentiis, Silvia Delfitto, Elisabetta Francioni, Agnese Galeffi, Stefano Gambari, Giuliano Genetasio, Lapo Ghiringhelli, Daniela Giglio, Susanna Graziosi, Maria Chiara Iorio, Giovanna Lambroni, Laura Manzoni, Alessandra Moi, Marcello Sardelli, Lucia Sardo, Erica Vecchio e Elisabetta Viti

The Cartesian-Leibnizian Turing Test
The chapter examines the debate around the experimental validation of computer simulations of intelligent behavior. Under which conditions can we consider a machine intelligent? Since Turing’s original test, researchers have developed several criteria that have often generated lively debates about their adequacy. The author offers a new perspective. He recommends that we locate the evolution of Turing’s ideas in the historical development of the epistemology of ai. By showing that we might interpret contemporary criteria such as “behavior,” “formalism,” and “realism” as technical and pragmatical reformulations of philosophical conceptions of the mind that philosophers such as especially Descartes and Leibniz developed during the modern era, the author offers some reflections toward a hopefully fruitful new awareness and reemployment of those concepts
La congregazione del clero intrinseco dalle origini alla stesura degli statuti
This work is part of a larger theme having the association of the urban secular clergy as a subject and is focused on the Clero Intrinseco Congregation of the medieval Verona.
After a general introduction on the documents forming the Clero Intriseco collection - and in particular of those used for this work - and after a survey of historiography produced on the theme, a deeper knowldedge of the Clero Intrinseco Congregation has been made possible by some local studies and thanks to the large amount of documents produced during the third and fourth decades of the XIV Century, when the Cancelleria of the Congregation was formed, enrolling notars coming from the Bishop Curia. On 1323, these notars, along with the Arciprete and other members of the Congregation, were active in producing the Statuti where it is possible to recognize the pre ence of mores and consuetudes already documented on 1177.
Within the Statuti, the rituality based on regulation of Cura Animarum vivorum et defunctorum and on some corporative aspects peculiar to the Clero intrinseco congregation prevail.
(On 1326, following the indications given by the Constitutions 50, 51 and 42 of the Statuti, the notars of the Cancelleria started a compilation of two very importand registers recording copies and summaries of documents produced till that year)La ricerca rientra nel tema dell’associazionismo del clero urbano ed è incentrata sullo studio della congregazione del clero intrinseco di Verona nel medioevo.
materiale prodotto fino a quella dat
The impact of hearing loss on the quality of life of elderly adults
Andrea Ciorba, Chiara Bianchini, Stefano Pelucchi, Antonio PastoreENT and Audiology Department, University Hospital of Ferrara, Ferrara, ItalyAbstract: Hearing loss is the most common sensory deficit in the elderly, and it is becoming a severe social and health problem. Especially in the elderly, hearing loss can impair the exchange of information, thus significantly impacting everyday life, causing loneliness, isolation, dependence, and frustration, as well as communication disorders. Due to the aging of the population in the developed world, presbycusis is a growing problem that has been reported to reduce quality of life (QoL). Progression of presbycusis cannot be remediated; therefore, optimal management of this condition not only requires early recognition and rehabilitation, but it also should include an evaluation of QoL status and its assessment. Keywords: hearing loss, presbycusis, quality of life, elderl
Where Am I? A new case of developmental topographical disorientation
Recently, developmental topographical disorientation (DTD) was described (Bianchini etal., 2010, J Clin Exp Neuropsychol, 20, 807-27; Iaria & Barton, 2010, Exp Brain Res, 206, 189-96; Iaria, Bogod, Fox, & Barton, 2009, Neuropsychologia, 47, 30-40) as a navigational deficit in the absence of neurological or psychiatric disorders. Here, we reported the case of a healthy subject who presented this disorder. Dr. WAI was a 29-year-old right-handed man with normal development and no clinical history of neurological or psychiatric diseases who was affected by a very pervasive topographical orientation and navigational disorder. A neuroradiological exam confirmed the absence of structural and anatomical alterations of the brain. Dr. WAI was submitted to an extensive neuropsychological examination and to a battery of tests specifically developed to assess developmental topographical disorder. Using this battery, we analysed Dr. WAI's acquisition of navigational information and re-orientation processes. He showed severe DTD accompanied by deficits of different cognitive processes directly or indirectly involved in navigational skills. Dr. WAI showed a deficit in developing cognitive maps, already found in previous cases, plus difficulties in evaluating distances and computing metric environmental features. He represents a further confirmation of the existence of DTD suggesting dissociations within the disorder related to the level of development of the ability to build cognitive maps and the association of different imagery deficits. Dr. WAI can help in shedding some light on the mechanisms underlying lack of development of navigational skills
Some overdetermined problems related to the anisotropic capacity
We characterize the Wulff shape of an anisotropic norm in terms of solutions to overdetermined problems for the Finsler p-capacity of a convex set Ω⊂RN, with 1<p<N. In particular we show that if the Finsler p-capacitary potential u associated to Ω has two homothetic level sets then Ω is Wulff shape. Moreover, we show that the concavity exponent of u is q=−(p−1)/(N−p) if and only if Ω is Wulff shape
