Application of Maillard reaction products on chia seed oil microcapsules with different core/wall ratios
This research studies the physical properties of microcapsules formulated with different concentrations of chia oil, using Maillard Reaction Products (MRPs) with different protein:carbohydrate ratio as encapsulants. Microcapsules were obtained from freeze-drying of O/W emulsions composed by non-heated/heated aqueous phases containing NaCas (10%wt) and lactose (10 or 20% wt/wt) blends. Chia oil (10, 15 or 20%wt/wt) constituted the oil phases. The moisture content of microcapsules was 0.31–2.23% d.b., while the water activity was ∼0.500. The dispersibility and color were also studied. The microencapsulation efficiency varied between 41.43 and 83.95%. The bulk density was 323–551 kg/m3 and 244–301 kg/m3 for tapped and aerated density, respectively. All microcapsules exhibited an outer topography characterized by flakes and agglomerates without cracks or dents. The particle size distribution and D[3,2] of reconstituted emulsions were analyzed. The heat treatment improved the protection of chia oil against lipid oxidation in most samples, partially due to the antioxidant properties of the MRPs. Also, the oil content and the protein:carbohydrate ratio affected de oxidative stability. Thus, MRPs produced by heat treatment of NaCas-lactose mixture with different protein:carbohydrate ratios were effective for conferring microencapsulated chia oil additional oxidative stability.Fil: Copado, Claudia Noelia. Development of chia oil-in-water nanoemulsions using different homogenization technologies and the layer-by-layer technique
Aim: The present study investigates the influence of various homogenization techniques, namely high-pressure valve homogenization and microfluidization, and different forms of modified sunflower lecithin, including deoiled (DL) and hydrolyzed (HL) variants, on the development of monolayer and bilayer nanoemulsions of chia oil.
Methods: Oil-in-water (O/W) nanoemulsions with 5% chia seed oil were prepared using simple (0.5% DL or HL) or double-layer [0.5% DL or HL and 0.3% chitosan (Ch)] stabilization. This involved a two-step homogenization process, utilizing either microfluidization or high-pressure valve homogenization. Chia oil nanoemulsions were characterized by their zeta potential, particle size, and rheological properties. Besides, their physical stability and omega-3 content during refrigerated storage were evaluated.
Results: Overall, the studied modified sunflower lecithin (DL and HL) demonstrated effective capability in stabilizing chia nanoemulsions and facilitating the formation of the double-layered structure following Ch deposition. Concerning the homogenization method, it has been demonstrated that under the same homogenization conditions, microfluidization resulted in significantly smaller droplet sizes and higher apparent viscosities compared to high-pressure valve homogenization. This discrepancy can be attributed to the design of the homogenization chambers, as microfluidization generates a narrow distribution of shear forces, while high-pressure valve homogenization yields a much broader distribution. In contrast to chia monolayer nanoemulsions, the nanoemulsions stabilized by modified sunflower lecithin-Ch demonstrated a noteworthy improvement in their overall stability. This enhancement can be ascribed to their increased apparent viscosity and the highly charged interfaces of the droplets. Furthermore, throughout the entire refrigerated storage period, the omega-3 content in all nanoemulsions remained unchanged.
Conclusions: In this study, mono and bilayer chia oil nanoemulsions were successfully obtained using modified sunflower lecithin and high-energy techniques. Microfluidization outperformed high-pressure valve homogenization, resulting in smaller droplets and increased viscosity. These findings are relevant for designing stable chia oil nanoemulsions with natural components, offering substantial health benefits
3p25 aneusomy in follicular thyroid neoplasms: a report of three cases with review of literature.
Aneusomy is an early genetic event and a characteristic feature of many solid tumors. It is often associated with poor prognosis in cancer patients. The involvement of PAX8-PPAR? rearrangement in tumorigenesis of follicular thyroid lesions has been widely assessed. However, there were few reports on aneusomy of the PPAR? gene at the 3p25 locus in follicular thyroid lesions. It remains undetermined whether these abnormalities can be translated into improved diagnosis, classification, or outcome prediction. Herein, we report three cases of follicular thyroid neoplasms [two follicular thyroid carcinomas (FTCs) and one Hurthle cell adenoma (HCA)] with 3p25 aneusomy detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). 3p25 trisomy was observed in one FTC and one HCA while 3p25 tetrasomy was observed in one FTC. Furthermore, all three lesions did not show overexpression of PPAR? protein. Hurthle cell neoplasms (HCN) are distinct clinically and histologically from other follicular thyroid neoplasms (FTN). However, the presence of the aneusomy in HCA and FTC indicates that there could be a biological continuum between the two and chromosomal gains might play an important role in the pathogenesis of these two types of neoplasms. The paper discusses alternative Research Assessment Measures (RAM), with an emphasis on the Thomson Reuters ISI Web of Science database (hereafter ISI). The various ISI RAM that are calculated annually or updated daily are defined and analysed, including the classic 2-year impact factor (2YIF), 5-year impact factor (5YIF), Immediacy (or zero-year impact factor (0YIF)), Eigenfactor score, Article Influence, C3PO (Citation Performance Per Paper Online), h-index, Zinfluence, and PI-BETA (Papers Ignored - By Even The Authors). The ISI RAM data are analysed for 8 leading econometrics journals and 4 leading statistics journals. The application to econometrics can be used as a template for other areas in economics, for other scientific disciplines, and as a benchmark for newer journals in a range of disciplines. In addition to evaluating high quality research in leading econometrics journals, the paper also compares econometrics and statistics, alternative RAM, highlights the similarities and differences in alternative RAM criteria, finds that several ISI RAM capture similar performance characteristics for the leading econometrics and statistics journals while the new PI-BETA criterion is not highly correlated with any of the other ISI RAM, and hence conveys additional information regarding ISI RAM, highlights major research areas in leading journals in econometrics, and discusses some likely future uses of RAM.Research assessment measures, impact factors, Immediacy, Eigenfactor score, Article influence, h-index, C3PO, Zinfluence, PI-BETA

Binnen de planologie is veel onderzoek gedaan naar grote stedelijke projecten. De bij besluitvorming voorgestelde kosten en baten van zulke projecten zijn notoir onbetrouwbaar gebleken. Grote projecten kosten meestal meer dan geraamd, de realisatie duurt langer en de maatschappelijke baten vallen vaak tegen. Ook de Omgevingswet en het bijbehorende digitale stelsel kan worden beschouwd als een groot ICT-project.
