Assessing User Attitudes Toward Mobile Commerce In The U.S. Vs. Korea: Implications For M-Commerce CRM
No full textMobile Commerce (m-commerce) relies on “customer or user interactions” via a mobile device and telecommunications infrastructure for the purpose of interacting, advertising, promoting, and selling products and services. The author of this study explored user attitudes and behavior toward m-commerce in the U.S. vs. Korea. In this paper, the author investigated comparison analysis for the U.S. vs. Korea for the following issues: 1) the factors affecting user attitudes toward mobile phone business; 2) how those factors affect perceived ease of use (EOU) and usefulness (U); 3) the effects of perceived ease of use (EOU) and usefulness (U) on overall attitudes toward the mobile phone business; and 4) how overall attitudes toward mobile phone business affect user/customer satisfaction. Surveys were conducted in two countries and the results reveal the different aspects affecting mobile phone usage in the U.S. vs. Korea. This study also found that user attitudes toward the mobile phone business significantly impact the level of m-satisfaction. Furthermore, this study provides managerial implications and offers suggestions to m-businesses.1

The Impact of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) on Business in the Republic of Korea
No full textThe Republic of Korea (hereafter Korea) continues to promote an open-trade system via the conclusion of free trade agreements (FTAs), arguing that Korean enterprises will obtain considerable business opportunities under the FTAs the government has implemented. However, the FTAs that are currently being implemented in Korea are said to be beneficial only to some enterprises. This study presents new evidence from a survey conducted from July–August 2008 on 120 Korean firms. The paper explores critical questions regarding the utilization of FTAs, their perceived costs and benefits, perceptions of multiple rules of origin (ROOs), and policy and institutional support mechanisms for FTAs. One of the key findings is that most of the currently implemented FTAs in Korea were concluded with small- and medium-sized developing countries. Moreover, within these FTAs, the range of preferential tariffs is not very broad in scope; as such, only one out of five enterprises was found to be utilizing them. However, since the conclusion of FTAs with the United States and the European Union, Korean businesses have become very interested in utilizing those respective FTAs. The government should make efforts for early implementation of these FTAs. In the FTAs concluded by Korea, ROOs are strict and complicated. Vertical decomposition of a single cell in a three-dimensional arrangement of surfaces

We show that the combinatorial complexity of the vertical decomposition of a single cell in the arrangement A(Sigma) is O(n(2+epsilon)), for any epsilon > 0, where the constant of proportionality depends on epsilon and on the maximum degree of the surfaces and of their boundaries. As an application, we obtain a near-quadratic motion-planning algorithm for general systems with three degrees of freedom

No full textWe prove a general lemma on the existence of (1/r)-cutting of geometric objects in E(d) that satisfy certain properties. We use this lemma to construct (1/r)-cuttings of small size for arrangements of line segments in the plane and arrangements of triangles in 3-space; for line segments in the plane we obtain a cutting of size O(r+Ar-2/n(2)), and for triangles in 3-space our cutting has size O(r(2+e)+Ar-3/n(3)). Here A is the combinatorial complexity of the arrangement. Finally, we use these results to obtain new results for several problems concerning line segments in the plane and triangles in 3-space
Evidence-guided optimization of herbal formula Cheong-Hwa-Bo-Um-Tang using multiplex cytokine profiling
No full textBackground: Cheong-Hwa-Bo-Um-Tang (CHB) has been traditionally used to treat pharyngolaryngitis and throat inflammation in Korea. However, the anti-inflammatory activity of CHB and the exact component proportion ratio of CHB have not been fully reported.Materials and Methods: This study was conducted to optimize the component proportion ratio of CHB on the basis of experimental evidence using multiplex cytokine profiling assay in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 mouse macrophages.Results: The optimized CHB (named Chunhwabun-Cheong-Hwa-Bo-Um-Tang) inhibited the production of NO, IL-6, MCP-1, GMCSF, IL-10, IP-10, VEGF, M-CSF, RANTES, MIP-1β, LIF, LIX, and TNF-α in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 mouse macrophages without decreasing cell viability (P<0.05). Chunhwabun-Cheong-Hwa-Bo-Um-Tang consisted of roots of Scrophularia buergeriana, Trichosanthes kirilowii, Anemarrhena asphodeloides, Phellodendron amurense, Angelica gigas, Rehmannia glutinosa, Paeonia japonica, Cnidium officinale, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis (in the ratio of 8: 3: 3: 3: 3: 4: 4: 3: 3).Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the multiplex cytokine profiling assay could be one of the effective methods for evidence-guided optimization of the component proportion ratio of a traditional herbal formula used for treating excessive inflammation such as the cytokine storm.Key words: Cheong-Hwa-Bo-Um-Tang; Lipopolysaccharide; Inflammation; Macrophages; Cytokine; Nitric Oxid
