An Experimental Study about the Effect of Temperature on Formaldehyde and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Emissions from a Wood Lacquer

Most people spend more than 80% of their time indoors (Li et al., 2000), so that indoor air quality (IAQ) is important to human health. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) play a key role in IAQ (Zhang et al., 2001). High indoor VOC concentration levels have been commonly founded in newly built buildings in China (Chen et al., 2013). Various building materials, such as furniture, wood floor and paint, are known as the main indoor VOC emission sources. In order to reduce indoor VOCs concentrations and improve the IAQ, it is necessary to study the emission characteristics of the pollution sources.Temperature is one of the key factors affecting the VOC emissions from wet building materials. Yang et al. (2001) established a VOCs emission model of the wet material and pointed out that the influence of temperature differs among VOCs. Zhang et al. (2008) tested the concentration of total VOCs (TVOC) emitted by a coating in a small-scale environmental chamber at 20 °C, 25 °C, 30 °C. They claimed that, a dried layer was formed rapidly on the surface of the wet building material when the temperature reached 30 °C, which might hinder the release of VOCs from the material. Chen (2012) tested the VOC emissions of a cement paint at 33 °C and 43 °C, and found that the VOC concentrations differed in different experimental stages. Li et al. (2012) found that TVOC concentration in the environmental chamber emitted by interior wall paint and other wet materials increased with temperature. Wen (2015) tested the concentration variations of TVOC emitted from a wood lacquer and interior wall latex paint at 18 °C, 23 °C and 28 °C. They found that the emission rate decreased at higher temperature

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) that regulate gene expression are associated with osteosarcoma pathogenesis. Thus, miRNAs are potential therapeutic targets for osteosarcoma. Nanoparticles, widely used for targeted drug delivery, facilitate miRNA-based osteosarcoma treatment. Numerous studies have focused on miRNA delivery using nanoparticles to inhibit the progress of osteosarcoma. Polymer-based, lipid-based, inorganic-based nanoparticles and extracellular vesicles were used to deliver miRNAs for the treatment of osteosarcoma. They can be modified to enhance drug loading and delivery capabilities. Also, miRNA delivery was combined with traditional therapies, for example chemotherapy, to treat osteosarcoma. Consequently, miRNA delivery offers promising therapeutic avenues for osteosarcoma, providing renewed hope for patients. This review emphasizes the studies utilizing nanoparticles for miRNA delivery in osteosarcoma treatment, then introduced and summarized the nanoparticles in detail. And it also discusses the prospects for clinical applications. Keywords: osteosarcoma, MicroRNAs, nanoparticle delivery, molecular targeted therap

Fast plane segmentation with line primitives for RGB-D sensor

    No full text
This article presents a fast and robust plane segmentation approach for RGB-D type sensor, which detects plane candidates by line segments extracted from 2-D scanline projected from row or column points. It neither requires high computation to calculate local normals for the entire point cloud as most of approaches do nor randomly chooses plane candidates such as RANSAC-like approaches. First, a line extraction algorithm is utilized to extract line segments. Second, the plane candidates are detected by estimating local normal of points lying on line segments. Finally, the plane having most inlier is recursively extracted from the plane candidates as the result plane. Experiments were conducted with different data sets and the segmentation performances were evaluated quantitatively and qualitatively. We demonstrated the efficiency and robustness of our proposed approach, especially in the none plane scenario, the approach needs little computational cost
