    [[abstract]]The main purpose of this study is to comprehend the meanings of education with traditional ssu-she.(private elementary schools) Then, to explore the background, reality, and result of the educational reform with ssu-shu in the Modern China; and to analyze the factors which influence the outcome of the educational reform with ssu-shu. This study undertakes a historical approach, by means of literature criticism, analysis, and explanation obtain a comprehensive cognition of the educational reform with ssu-shu in the Modern China. The main findings of this study are as follows: 1.The ssu-shu was emerged from Han Dynasty. It displayed diverse and abundant patterns in category, curriculum, teaching material, and management. 2.The educational reform with ssu-shu in the late Chin Dynasty was resulted of the invation of the Western scholarship, the establishment of modern school system, the advocacy of the movement with vernacular Chinese, the defect of the ssu-shu education, and the reformation in non-governmental circles. It is the pattern of ”bottom to top”. 3.The educational reform with ssu-shu in the Republic of China was resulted of the promotion of compulsory education and the implementation of the Three People’s Principles. It is the pattern of ”top to bottom”. 4.The effects of the educational reform with ssu-shu were not obvious. Because of the conflict between new and old thoughts, the defect of the “New education”, the insufficient of the educational funds, and the disadvantage of primary education. 5.Ssu-shu was a dependency attached to the civil examination system; Ssu-shu and “New education ”were coexisted during the the period of modern China, and. S.- L. Chen, 29 Nov. 2014. Etymology. The name dorsomaculata is derived from the Latin dorsum and macula, describing the pattern on abdominal tergites of this species. Diagnosis. Pseudogagrella dorsomaculata differs from all other Taiwanese species in having light yellow strips and patches on scutum. It is most similar to P. andoi (Suzuki 1977: fig. 10M–S); however, it can be recognized by the following characters: P. dorsomaculata has one light patch on each side of the first abdominal tergite (none in P. andoi); P. dorsomaculata has a few tubercles on basal segment of chelicerae (none in P. andoi); and the penile grans of P. dorsomaculata are wider at the base (narrower in P. andoi). Description. Male holotype. Dorsal surface of body glossy. Supra-cheliceral lamellae tipped with some small tubercles (Fig. 1 I). Abdomen with one short median spine on the second tergite, first tergite with light yellow patches on each side. Ocularium oval (Fig. 1 D–E), with two rows of four setae, eye ring black, dark between eyes. All free sternites and genital operculum granular, with sparse hairs. Surface of all coxae with scattered coarse granules. All coxae with a row of humps anteriorly and posteriorly. Chelicera (Fig. 1 J–K). Basal segment with a few tubercles and setae above, a ventral spur below. Distal segment with some setae above, ectal aspect smooth, medial aspect with some black-tipped tubercles. Pedipalp (Fig. 1 A–B). All segments with lots of setae, excepting trochanter. Femur with a longitudinal row of denticles, some ventral tubercle on ectal aspect, with some denticles on medial aspect. Patella thickened distally, medial aspect with 16 denticles. Tibia slightly thickened, ventrally with covering of many hairs. Tarsus elongated, slightly concave along the ventral edge, with three denticles at medial aspect. Claw pectinate. Legs. All legs slim and elongate. Trochanters mound-shaped (Fig. 2 A), all femora without false articulations, tarsus longer than tibia. Penis (Fig. 1 F–G). Shaft 2.47 long, 0.28 wide at base, 0.23 wide at middle; glans 0.45 long, 0.12 wide at base. Shaft long, with sides nearly parallel, widened basally; alate part with lobe ventrally (Fig. 1 F). Glans widest at base. Stylus acicular. Female paratypes. Dorsal surface of body similar to male, excepting abdomen of female longer than male (Fig. 2 A, C, F). Seminal receptacle (Fig. 1 H) located between segments four to five of ovipositor, terminal with two ampullae. Pedipalpal femur without a longitudinal row of denticles, tibia normal without covering of many hairs ventrally (Fig. 1 C). Measurements. Holotype male (female paratype, NCHUZOOL 14880): Cephalothorax 1.6 (2.04) long, 2.74 (3.27) wide; abdomen 2.19 (4.8) long, 2.82 (4.01) wide. Total length of body 3.79 (6.84). Measurements of left pedipalp and right legs are shown in Table 2. Coloration. Dorsum dark brown with rusty brown metallic luster (Fig. 2 A, C, F). Carapace blackish brown with metallic luster. Ocularium blackish brown, with black eye rings. Coxa of all legs blackish brown. Genital operculum, distal margin pale yellow, darkening gradually to base. Sternites blackish brown with pale yellow edge. Chelicerae amber, pedipalps rusty brown. All legs black. Distribution. Central Taiwan (Fig. 8). Habitat. The name is derived from the Latin niger and dorsum, for the color of male adult body, especially the deep black of the abdominal tergites. Diagnosis. Pseudogagrella nigridorsa differs from all other Taiwanese species in having black body. It is most similar to P. arishana (Suzuki 1977: fig. 10A–L); however, all legs of P. nigridorsa are black, but legs of P. arishana are dark brown, with brown rings; and the stylus of glans of P. nigridorsa is acicular, which is not found in P. arishana. Description. Male holotype. Dorsal surface of body glossy. Supra-cheliceral lamellae tipped with few tubercles (Fig. 3 I). Abdomen with one short median spine on the second tergite. Ocularium nearly elliptic (Fig. 3 D–E), with two rows of two setae. Eye ring black, dark between eyes. All free sternites and genital operculum granulate, with sparse hairs. Surface of all coxae with coarse granules. All coxae with a row of humps anteriorly and posteriorly. Chelicera (Fig. 3 J–K). Basal segment with a few setae, ventral spur below; medial aspect with black-tipped tubercles. Distal segment with some setae above, ectal aspect smooth, medial aspect with some black-tipped tubercle. Pedipalp (Fig. 3 A–B). All segments setose, excepting trochanter. Femur with a few denticles on ectal aspect, some ventral spine-tipped tubercle on ectal aspect. Patella swollen into a slight lobe at inner tip. Tibia slightly thickened, with dense covering of hairs below. Tarsus elongated, with a row of denticles on medial aspect. Claw pectinate. Legs. All legs slim and elongate. Trochanters mound-shaped (Fig. 4 A), all femora without false articulations, tarsus longer than tibia. Penis (Fig. 3 F–G). Shaft 2.29 long, 0.27 wide at base, 0.23 wide at middle; glans 0.33 long, 0.1 wide at base. Shaft wide, with sides nearly parallel; alate part oval, both sides with sharp protrusions. Glans widest at base. Stylus acicular. Female paratypes. Dorsal surface of body similar to male, excepting abdomen of female longer than male (Fig. 4 C–D). Tibia of pedipalps normal without dense covering of hairs below (Fig. 3 C). Seminal receptacle (Fig. 3 H), located between segments five to six of ovipositor, terminal with one ampulla. Measurements. Holotype male (female paratype, NCHUZOOL 14845): Cephalothorax 1.5 (2.0) long, 3.2 (3.4) wide; abdomen 2.8 (5.0) long, 2.8 (3.9) wide. Total length of body 4.2 (6.9). The appendage measurements of P. nigridorsa are in Table 3. Coloration. Dorsum black with metallic luster. Carapace black with metallic luster (Fig. 4 A–B, E). Ocularium blackish brown, with black eye rings. Coxa of all legs black. Genital operculum with distal margin pale yellow, darkening gradually to base. Sternites blackish brown. Chelicerae pale yellow, with dark brown figure above. Pedipalps dark brown, femur and patella darker. All legs black. Distribution. Northern Taiwan (Fig. 8). Habitat.
