Decision models for new products sold with warranty and maintenance support under stable and dynamic market
Modeling and analysis of integrated management strategies in a supply chain
In the beginning, two production strategies are compared. The first one, proposed by Ben-Daya and Hariga (2004), suggests that the buyer orders batches of size nQ every time his on hand inventory reaches the reorder point r after the reception of the ultimate lot of the last order. The vendor from his side produces continuously nQ and makes equal shipments of size Q. The second policy, which we develop, propose that to satisfy the same ordered quantity, the vendor produces separately smaller batches of size Q (lot-for-lot), n times. The total expected cost is adopted as the decision variable for the choice of the best strategy.Afterwards, the lot-for-lot strategy is generalised to the cases where the sizes of the produced lot and the shipment are different from the ordered quantity. Henceforth, the vendor manufactures separately smaller batches of size iQ and makes equal shipments of size jQ (1≤ j ≤ i ≤ n) limited or not to the transportation capacity. The optimal solution corresponds to the best combination (n, i, j, Q, r) yielding the minimal total average cost per time unit incurred by the vendor and the buyer. In the last contribution, we consider the case of an imperfect process where the production unit is assumed to randomly shift from an in-control to an out-of-control state characterized by a fixed production rate of non-conforming items. To resolve the problem, we propose and compare two different strategies integrating production, inventory and maintenance policies. The maintenance actions are performed to prevent or to reduce the losses related to imperfect item

A One-Way Car-Sharing Based Approach for Combined Shared Mobility of Freight and Passengers
Climate change stresses the need for research and development of innovative sustainable mobility solutions that provide reliable and convenient door-to-door services for both passengers and freight. The increase in urban population and the popularity of e-commerce further highlights the need for action. In this regard, crowd-shipping is often perceived as an efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable alternative (or complement) to the management of urban freight mobility through efficient utilization of current transportation capacities. In this framework, inspired by the concept of MaaS (Mobility as a Service) in integrating various forms of transport and transport-related services into a single on-demand mobility service, this paper proposes a car-sharing-based service for the combined mobility of passengers and freight. In doing so, one-way car-sharing and crowd-shipping concepts are integrated in order to serve part of the existing freight demand in a sustainable and cost-efficient way for users, societies, and the environment. An optimization model is proposed to optimally plan the activation of one-way car-sharing and crowd-shipping services and to determine the optimal number of vehicles to assign to them. Such decisions are aimed at minimizing the total imbalance by serving passenger and freight demand during different time periods. In doing so, the willingness of users to carry freight in their vehicles is also taken into consideration. The capability of the proposed approach is evaluated through representative numerical examples aimed at showing the impact of the model parameters on the solution.Transport and Plannin

Embracing the future of the policy sciences: big data in pedagogy and practice
Although the emergence of Big Data provides an opportunity to synthesize and mobilize ever greater amounts of policy-relevant knowledge, it has not received adequate attention in studies of policy pedagogy and practice. In this chapter, we highlight the relevance of Big Data to policy analysis, policy implementation, and policy studies through a discussion of basic machine learning techniques and an illustration of their application in the case of better understanding policy response to COVID-19. Subsequently – based on a bibliometric review of nearly 2,500 publications on big data in public policy and content analysis of course titles and descriptions in 122 programs worldwide – we make an evidence-informed appeal to increase the uptake of big data in policy research as well as teaching. We conclude that appropriate engagement with the big data phenomenon can help the policy sciences remain relevant and move a step closer to integrating policy research, pedagogy, and practice.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Organisation & Governanc

SIMULATION-BASED DECISION MODEL TO CONTROL DYNAMIC MANUFACTURING REQUIREMENTS: APPLICATION OF GREY FORECASTING - DQFD
Manufacturing systems have to adapt to changing requirements of their internal and external customers. In fact, new requirements may appear unexpectedly and may change multiple times. Change is a straightforward reality of production, and the engineer has to deal with the dynamic work environment. In this perspective, this paper proposes a decision model in order to fit actual and future processes’ needs. The proposed model is based on the dynamic quality function deployment (DQFD), grey forecasting model GM (1,1) and the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). The cascading QFD-based model is used to show the applicability of the proposed methodology. The simulation results illustrate the effect of the manufacturing needs changes on the strategic, operational and technical improvements
Comparative Study between Baha’ al-Din Naqshband Bukhari’s Two Books of Anis at-Talibin and Maqamat
These two books Anisatolibin and Maqamat-e-Naqshband are among the oldest and most important sources about Baha' al-Din Naqshband (718 -791) and his principles. More resources about Baha' al-Din Naqshband are often taken from Anis at Talibin book and many of the Maqamat’s topics are shared by Anis at Talibin. In this article, Baha' al-Din and his principles were introduced from the point of view of the authors of these two books and then the comparative analysis of the two works, the style of writing, the amount of poetry, ideas, and common themes, the position of women, miracles as well as the type and direction of miracles in them, should be examined. The comparative comparison of the two books showed that a large proportion of the Maqamat-e-Naqshband shared with Anis at Talibin and this suggests that Anis at Talibin was probably one of the main sources of the author of the Maqamat-e-Naqshband
