Purpose This paper aims to develop the Dragonfly-based exponential gravitational search algorithm to VMM strategy for effective load balancing in cloud computing. Due to widespread growth of cloud users, load balancing is the essential criterion to deal with the overload and underload problems of the physical servers. DEGSA-VMM is introduced, which calculates the optimized position to perform the virtual machine migration (VMM). Design/methodology/approach This paper presents an algorithm Dragonfly-based exponential gravitational search algorithm (DEGSA) that is based on the VMM strategy to migrate the virtual machines of the overloaded physical machine to the other physical machine keeping in mind the energy, migration cost, load and quality of service (QoS) constraints. For effective migration, a fitness function is provided, which selects the best fit that possess minimum energy, cost, load and maximum QoS contributing toward the maximum energy utilization. Findings For the performance analysis, the experimentation is performed with three setups, with Setup 1 composed of three physical machines with 12 virtual machines, Setup 2 composed of five physical machines and 19 virtual machines and Setup 3 composed of ten physical machines and 28 virtual machines. The performance parameters, namely, QoS, migration cost, load and energy, of the proposed work are compared over the other existing works. The proposed algorithm obtained maximum resource utilization with a good QoS at a rate of 0.19, and minimal migration cost at a rate of 0.015, and minimal energy at a rate of 0.26 with a minimal load at a rate of 0.1551, whereas with the existing methods like ant colony optimization (ACO), gravitational search algorithm (GSA) and exponential gravitational search algorithm, the values of QoS, load, migration cost and energy are 0.16, 0.1863, 0.023 and 0.29; 0.16, 0.1863, 0.023 and 0.28 and 0.18, 0.1657, 0.016 and 0.27, respectively. Originality/value This paper presents an algorithm named DEGSA based on VMM strategy to determine the optimum position to perform the VMM to achieve a better load balancing. </jats:sec

Exponential gravitational search algorithm-based VM migration strategy for load balancing in cloud computing

With the advancement in the science and technology, cloud computing has become a recent trend in environment with immense requirement of infrastructure and resources. Load balancing of cloud computing environments is an important matter of concern. The migration of the overloaded virtual machines (VMs) to the underloaded VM with optimized resource utilization is the effective way of the load balancing. In this paper, a new VM migration algorithm for the load balancing in the cloud is proposed. The migration algorithm proposed (EGSA-VMM) is based on exponential gravitational search algorithm which is the integration of gravitational search algorithm and exponential weighted moving average theory. In our approach, the migration is done based on the migration cost and QoS. The experimentation of proposed EGSA-based VM migration algorithm is compared with ACO and GSA. The simulation of experiments shows that the proposed EGSA-VMM algorithm achieves load balancing and reasonable resource utilization, which outperforms existing migration strategies in terms of number of VM migrations and number of SLA violations. </jats:p

210-218The data transmissions over Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN) and Social-based Opportunistic networks have increased in the last few years due to a higher demand for remote transmissions. The wide applications of DTN have significantly motivated the researchers to focus on finding optimized routing strategies by optimizing various parameters such as energy, cost and congestion. Nonetheless, these parallel research outcomes have reported few further bottlenecks to improve the strategies. Henceforth, this work proposes a novel approach to optimize the routing paths using the cache collaboration method. This proposed method identifies the data-sharing strategies and subsequently identifies the sub-set of the paths between the source and destinations. Further optimizes the path using standard measures such as cost, transmission speed, and the network traffic conditions; lastly Data-Centric and Cost Optimized Routing Path is Identification. This work results in a nearly 20% reduction in the distance between the nodes, a 15% reduction of time in path identification and a nearly 50% reduction in cache allocation demand over multiple iterations compared to the existing models

The advancement of modern agriculture is heavily dependent on accurate weed detection, which contributes to efficient resource utilization and increased crop yield. Traditional methods, however, often need more accuracy and efficiency. This paper presents WeedFocusNet, an innovative approach that leverages attention-driven ResNet152V2 transfer learning addresses these challenges. This approach enhances model generalization and focuses on critical features for weed identification, thereby overcoming the limitations of existing methods. The objective is to develop a model that enhances weed detection accuracy and optimizes computational efficiency. WeedFocusNet, a novel deep-learning model, performs weed detection better by employing attention-driven transfer learning based on the ResNet152V2 architecture. The model integrates an attention module, concentrating its predictions on the most significant image features. Evaluated on a dataset of weed and crop images, WeedFocusNet achieved an accuracy of 99.28%, significantly outperforming previous methods and models, such as MobileNetV2, ResNet50, and custom CNN models, in terms of accuracy, time complexity, and memory usage, despite its larger memory footprint. These results emphasize the transformative potential of WeedFocusNet as a powerful approach for automating weed detection in agricultural fields
