Portrait of Charles M. Hall (1863-1914), ca. 1890. A graduate of Oberlin College, Hall discovered the electrolytic method of producing aluminum cheaply for commercial use in 1886. He began working for the Pittsburgh Reduction Company, later known as the Aluminum Company of America, and became vice president in 1890
