Extending the Constitution to Refugee-Parolees
No full textThis comment examines the Constitutional rights of Indochinese refugee-parolees. The author begins by discussing the gap in rights between permanent residents and parolees. Permanent residents have entered the county and therefore receive certain rights. Parolees have not entered the country according to the Supreme Court\u27s decision in Leng May Ma v. Barber and therefore do not receive the same rights. The author argues that the gap between the rights of permanent residents and refugee-parolees must be narrowed. The author also argues that Leng May Ma is inapplicable to refugee-parolees who are not temporary visitors as a parolee is. The author also supports the argument with a description of the Congressional reaction to Leng May Ma and the Presidential rejection of Leng May Ma . The author calls on Congress or the courts to increase the current constitutional protections granted to Indochinese refugee-parolees

No full textAmong the many manuscripts relating to Ch’an Buddhism included in the Tun-huang finds of the early years of this century, the Leng-chia shih-tzu chi has always been regarded by scholars as a discovery of unusual importance, since it presents an unrivalled picture of the early development of this type of Buddhism from the long-obscured viewpoint of the so-called Northern school of Ch’an. The text has been rendered into English lately by J. C. Cleary, but only in a translation intended for a non-scholarly audience. Fortunately, however, the new French-language translation and study by Bernard Faure is everything a scholar could wish for, a worthy product of many years of research, including several spent at the feet of Yanagida Seizan, Japan's outstanding authority on the early historiography of Ch’an. Faure's work, not surprisingly, shows a complete grasp of the complex issues of intellectual history raised by his text, and also provides copious commentary on its author, Ching-chüeh (683–c. 750), and his background.</jats:p

No full textVera Cuntz-Leng brilliert mit einer queertheoretischen Untersuchung der Romanreihe um den Zauberlehrling Harry Potter und ihrer Verfilmung, die beide durch eine Form der Fanfiction, dem Slash, einer queeren Auswertung ausgesetzt sind. Mit der Verzahnung von queertheoretischer Relektüre und der Analyse queerer Fanpraxis gelingt es der Autorin herauszustellen, weshalb sich die Septalogie herausragender Beliebtheit bei queerer Harry-Potter-Fan-Art erfreut. Sie erweitert dadurch nicht nur den Blickwinkel auf das Phänomen Harry Potter, das durch das inflationäre Neu- und Weiterschreiben durch Fans ein Eigenleben entwickelt hat. Sie trägt damit auch zur Verwissenschaftlichung des Subgenres Fantasy bei und dem mangelnden Interesse der Queer Theory am popkulturellen Phänomen des Fandom Rechnung.Vera Cuntz-Leng shines in her queer theoretical analysis of the Harry Potter series. Both the books and films are exposed to a queer interpretation by Slash, a specific form of fanfiction. By presenting both a queer theoretical re-reading and an analysis of queer fan practices the author succeeds to show why the septalogy is that popular with the queer Harry Potter Fan Art Community. Not only does she offer a new perspective on the Harry Potter phenomenon, which has developed a life of its own due to the excessive number of re-writings and sequels produced by fans. She also contributes to the scientification of the subgenre 'fantasy' and takes into account the lack of interest on the part of Queer Theory as refers to the pop-cultural phenomenon of fandom
Construction of fast retrieval model of e-commerce supply chain information system based on Bayesian network
No full textBayesian network is a kind of uncertainty knowledge expression and reasoning tool, and it is an effective means to solve problems in related fields such as information retrieval. Considering the characteristics of e-commerce supply chain supply information and Bayesian network, a cognitive big data analysis method for intelligent information system is designed. The model uses a set of information sample documents to describe the query requirements and the documents to be detected. By calculating the similarity between them, the return results of the general search engine are sorted, thereby retrieving the supply chain supply information required by the user. Through numerical results, the precision of the source information retrieval model based on Bayesian network is also significantly higher than that of the trust network model and the inference network model, and the experimental data shows that the Bayesian network model has better retrieval performance than the trust network model and the inference network model. https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8725-5182There is a growing interest in using perturbation-based balance training (PBT) to reduce falls. The efficacy of PBT has been largely attributed to improved physical ability to arrest falls, such as improved recovery step length and trunk velocity. While PBT is likely to influence psychological factors, the impact on this aspect remains unclear. Several studies have found a limited influence of PBT on falls efficacy or balance confidence. Given that falls is a complex phenomenon, the role of PBT on psychological factors needs to be elucidated adequately. Recently, falls efficacy has been proposed to encompass four domains: balance confidence, balance recovery confidence, safe-landing confidence, and post-fall recovery confidence, alongside the appropriate use of falls efficacy measures. This commentary aims to feature some falls efficacy-related measurement instruments so that researchers and clinicians can choose the most suitable measures for PBT.pubpu
