    A CMOS high-speed wide-range programmable counter

    No full text
A CMOS high speed wide-range programmable divide-by-N counter was designed and the performance was verified by SPICE simulations and the measurements on the fabricated chip. A new reloading scheme and the use of simplified circuits for three least significant bit flip-flops enabled the high-speed operation of the proposed counter, independently of the number of counter stages. The proposed and Chang's [1] counters were fabricated on the same chip using a 0.6-mum triple-metal CMOS technology. The proposed and Chang's counters with six stages were measured to work up to the clock frequencies of 1.34 GHz and 930 MHz, respectively.X1111sciescopu

    A simple and color-free WDM-passive optical network using spectrum-sliced Fabry-Perot laser diodes

We propose and demonstrate a simple and color-free wavelength-division-multiplexing passive optical network (WDM-PON) using spectrum-sliced Fabry-Perot laser diodes (F-P LDs). Due to its low front facet reflectivity (similar to 0.1%), the F-P LD shows a broadband lasing spectrum and reduced mode partition noise. By utilizing multiple peaks that are separated by the free-spectral range of the cyclic arrayed waveguide gratings, the 16-channel WDM-PON is successfully demonstrated at 155 Mb/s

SUPPRESSION OF POLARIZATION HOLE-BURNING IN AN EDFA USING AN UNPOLARIZED SOURCE

Suppression of polarisation hole burning in the erbium-doped fibre amplifier (EDFA) is demonstrated by converting a polarised signal into an unpolarised signal using a Michelson interferometer which consists of a polarisation beamsplitter and two Faraday rotator mirrors
