RECTIFIED DIFFERENTIAL CRYPTANALYSIS OF 16 ROUND PRESENT Manoj Kumar , Pratibha Yadav and Meena Kumari SAG, DRDO, Metcalfe House, Delhi-110054, India ABSTRACT In this paper, we have suggested rectifications in differential cryptanalysis of ultra-lightweight block cipher PRESENT reduced to 16 rounds. We have shown that proposed differential attack by Wang [3] on 16 round PRESENT can recover at the most 30 subkey bits, although the author has claimed to recover 32 bits of subkey for last two rounds. We have also computed data complexity and success probability for recovering 30 subkey bits accordingly by the differential attack on 16 round PRESENT. The forties are very significant in Bengali literature. The partition, riots and the crisis of refuges life are reflected in every form of literature. The impact of partition and ritos is reflected a little more in the stories. The brutality of the riots, violence and hatred, and the pain of partition have been reflected in the writings of many story taller’s. Manoj Basu is one of the few storytellers who embodied the riots and partition in the pens of the fortis and fifties. Compassion for the homeland and relatives, that is, the people, is the main feature of Manoj Basu\u27s literature. Just as there is a thorough picture of how public life was disrupted in the Hindu-Muslim riots and the partition after independence. Manoj Basu\u27s stories also show the picture of people coming together, forgetting the memories of the riots and partition. The riots created districts between the two Nations, Hindus and Muslims, and partition increased it. Therefor after partition, communal classes and unrest increased even more. storyteller Manoj Basu has sympathetically portrayed the people in danger during riots and partition in his stories after independence. And so we see the harmony of Hindu-Muslim relations in his stories. He believed that oneday all the darkness would pass, the storm would stop and light would shine again, all the unrest would end. That is why he has faith in people and he wanted to protray that in his stories. In stories like \u27Hindu Muslim Danga\u27, ‘Dangar Ekti Kahini\u27, ‘Dangar Daag\u27, ‘Hindu Muslim’, ‘Simanta\u27, ‘Epar Opar\u27, ‘Tanter Maku\u27 etc. The author has protrayed the picture of Hindu Muslim relations during the riots and partitions during the contemporary and post partition period with experience. His stories have become an intertextual account of Hindu Muslim relations. Manoj Basu wanted to show the good heart of a person can never die. Even if riots and partition temporary separate people, it can never be permanent. When the fire of hatred and jealousy dies down, faith in each other returns because people always stand by each other losing faith in people is a sin— this message of hope is echoed in Manoj Basu\u27s stories

Corporate Governance, Competition and Firm Performance: Evidence from India.

The aim of this paper is to show the interaction effect of product market competition and corporate governance variables on firm performance. While the linkage between internal governance mechanism and firm performance is well established in several studies, the interaction between internal and external governance mechanism has received scanty attention in emerging market economies. Here we have shown the independent and interaction effect of ownership and competition variable on firm productivity. Contrary to conventional wisdom, we document that competition has in reality become a discernible force in developing economies. The econometric modelling result shows while the standalone effect of ownership variable on productivity is mostly insignificant, there is a strong positive interaction effect with competition variables.

Key Author Analysis in Research Professionals’ Relationship Network Using Citation Indices and Centrality

    No full text
AbstractIn social network analysis, the importance of an actor can be found by using the centrality metrics. There are many centrality metrics available e.g. degree, closeness, betweenness, eigenvector etc. In research community authors forms a social network, which is called Research Professionals’ Collaboration Network. This is similar to social network where each author is an actor and an article written together by some authors establishes collaboration between them. Each author acquires a certain value based on the citation of their articles. There are many citation indices are available such as citation count, h-index, g-index, i10-index etc. To analyze the Research Professionals’ collaboration Network and for finding the key author, the citation indices can be used. In this paper, we compare and combine both social network analysis metrics and the citation indices to get better result in finding the key author

There are very few bilingual writers of repute in the country and Manoj Das distinctly stands as a prolific writer who has carved a niche for himself in this arena. In fact, he is one of the greatest writers of the country, who has given a new direction to the bilingual writing and proved his brilliance through his great short stories and novels both in Odia and English languages with his creative genius. He is one of the widely acclaimed bilingual story tellers of the country whose writings have been accepted by the readers for their novelty of thoughts and flawless narration. Many prestigious literary awards like the Sahitya Akademi Award, the Padma Shri and the Saraswati Samman and many more have been bestowed upon him. He is in fact one of the towering literary personalities in the Indian English fictions arena who has been instrumental in establishing a native identity. His in-depth analysis of human emotions and their universal appeal is something that is amazingly brilliant in his writings. He has been widely acclaimed and appreciated for his literary genius and creative brilliance. The present research article attempts a comparative study of these two novels which are unique with their thematic treatment as well as the subtle realities combined with powerful philosophical messages. His novel Akasara Isara (1997) which originally appeared in Odia and later translated by the author himself in English as The Escapist (2001) describes the human tragedy against the backdrop of an all-pervading destiny. The article discusses such issues of translation and bilingual writing. It also focuses on the cultural aspects

Anti-bacterial and anti-biofilm activities of arachidonic acid against the cariogenic bacterium Streptococcus mutans

    No full text
Streptococcus mutans is a Gram-positive, facultative anaerobic bacterium, which causes dental caries after forming biofilms on the tooth surface while producing organic acids that demineralize enamel and dentin. We observed that the polyunsaturated arachidonic acid (AA) (ω-6; 20:4) had an anti-bacterial activity against S. mutans, which prompted us to investigate its mechanism of action. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of AA on S. mutans was 25 μg/ml in the presence of 5% CO2, while it was reduced to 6.25-12.5 μg/ml in the absence of CO2 supplementation. The anti-bacterial action was due to a combination of bactericidal and bacteriostatic effects. The minimum biofilm inhibitory concentration (MBIC) was the same as the MIC, suggesting that part of the anti-biofilm effect was due to the anti-bacterial activity. Gene expression studies showed decreased expression of biofilm-related genes, suggesting that AA also has a specific anti-biofilm effect. Flow cytometric analyses using potentiometric DiOC2(3) dye, fluorescent efflux pump substrates, and live/dead SYTO 9/propidium iodide staining showed that AA leads to immediate membrane hyperpolarization, altered membrane transport and efflux pump activities, and increased membrane permeability with subsequent membrane perforation. High-resolution scanning electron microscopy (HR-SEM) showed remnants of burst bacteria. Furthermore, flow cytometric analysis using the redox probe 2',7'-dichlorofluorescein diacetate (DCFHDA) showed that AA acts as an antioxidant in a dose-dependent manner. α-Tocopherol, an antioxidant that terminates the radical chain, counteracted the anti-bacterial activity of AA, suggesting that oxidation of AA in bacteria leads to the production of cytotoxic radicals that contribute to bacterial growth arrest and death. Importantly, AA was not toxic to normal Vero epithelial cells even at 100 μg/ml, and it did not cause hemolysis of erythrocytes. In conclusion, our study shows that AA is a potentially safe drug that can be used to reduce the bacterial burden of cariogenic S. mutans.Published versionThe author(s) declare financial support was received for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.
