    Interview with Sergio Sanchez

    No full text
Sergio Sanchez was born in Mexico City in 1966. He is one of seven children and was 13 when he first immigrated to the U.S. in 1979. In the beginning Mr. Sanchez talks briefly about his life in Mexico. His mother was a nurse and his father was a union contractor before coming to the United States. When his mother came in 1978, she came in as a replacement worker (scab). However, she left that line of work to join the union established by Cesar Chavez, as did his father in 1979. However, as the interview progressed, Mr. Sanchez shifted his focus from talking about the unions and his parents, to his personal experience as a child transitioning from Mexico to the United States. Racism, a nomadic-like lifestyle, and the lack of an established community are constantly brought up and how those experiences are related back to his perception of the world.https://digitalcommons.csumb.edu/ohcma_chinatown/1052/thumbnail.jp

    No full text
According to the existing agreement between the Ministry of Tourism of Argentina and the CONICET (IMHICIHU), 167 Indicators, divided in 5 thematic axes, have been established to create a System of Indicators of Tourism Development, within a conceptual framework of sustainability. A strong trend towards greater territorial equity, as the origin of Argentine travelers, within which the female grows almost twice that the male is verified with them. The trend towards equity correlates in the elderly population and in areas of low income, implying greater social inclusion in access to tourism and a consequent reduction of the social gap with the more affuent sector.Fil: Sanchez, Dario Cesar. The East Coast of Buenos Aires as region of tourist development

    No full text
Tourist activity tends to produce demographic and economic growth rates which have proved to be unsustainable over a prolonged period of time. This strong growth of the tourist centers is not good for if only, since it tends to be accompanied by serious social and environmental problems, To avoid these undesirable consequences it is necessary to plan the tourist development from a regional perspective, not local, promoting multiple attractions and at the same time several destinations associated with them, in order to distribute the tourist load in an entire region. We analyze the case of the East Coast of Buenos Aires, a territory with two areas fragmented by a been wrong political decision, but economically complementary.Fil: Sanchez, Dario Cesar. Somewhere Between the Colonial and the Postcolonial: An interview with Gibraltarian author Mark G. Sanchez

    No full text
Gibraltar, the British territory located at the southernmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula, is one of those places which are frequently in the news, but which often confuse outsiders with their ‘more-than-meets-the-eye’ complexity. Is it a colony, or is it self-governing? What is its relationship with its much larger neighbour across the border? Is there a Gibraltarian way of thinking? In this interview the Gibraltarian writer and novelist M. G. Sanchez – who has spent the last twenty years expounding upon the contradictions and idiosyncrasies at the heart of modern-day Gibraltarian identity – discusses borders, Brexit, coloniality, hybridity, as well as his latest novel Gooseman and his 2018 travelogue Bombay Journal

La colonización galesa del Chubut y la necesidad de un puerto

    No full text
The qualities of the port of Madryn were noticedsince theearly hydrographic explorations in the area in 1833. The conjunction of a good harbor and a fertile valley nearby was the considered factor while settling the Welsh colony in 1865. The plan of linking the port to the valley by a railway existed from the very beginning, although it took more than 20 years to concretize. This was accomplished not by the Welsh settlers but by English capital. Rather than the railway, it was the port of Madryn that opened tocolonization a huge hinterland in north Patagonia.Fil: Coronato, Fernando Raul. No full text
A review on lithium niobate single crystals and polycrystals has been prepared. Both the classical and recent literature on this topic is revisited. It is composed of two parts with several sections. The current part discusses the available defect models (intrinsic), the trends found in ion-doped crystals and polycrystals (extrinsic defects), the fundamentals on dilute magnetic oxides, and their connection to ferromagnetic behavior in lithium niobate
