The aim of the following investigation is the analysis of the evolution of Carmen Laforet’s poetics from the 1950s onwards. The Catholic conversion of the author entails a literary approach to themes that must be considered fundamental for the generación del medio siglo and that, although indirectly, determine the process of adherence of the author to the abovementioned group. Therefore, some short stories and novels written after 1950 and the novel La mujer nueva (1955) are analysed, with particular attention to the process of configuration of the main characters in the works under investigation

I libri assenti. Editoria italiana e letteratura spagnola negli anni di Franco

    No full text

this work proposes an analysis of the cultural relations between rumania and spain in the field of translation during the years immediately following World War ii. an attempt will be made to understand the decision making process which led to the translation of some works and the exclusion of others, by focusing on translation as a cultural mediation tool. such decision making process, involving primarily the exiled rumanian community resident in Madrid, reveals the “cultural and ideological border” that characterized this community of exiles during the early 1950s in the spain governed by Franco. From the spanish side, translation involves a fondness toward rumania, by virtue of a declared ideological affinity, which comes directly from exiled spanish intellectuals. From this double perspective, an attempt will be made to arrive at conclusions concerning the quantity and quality of rumanian literary works translated into spanish during the second part of the 1900s

    No full text
This paper offers an insight in El penúltimo viaje. In this book, which was published in 1989, Alina Diaconú depicts a time and a space that have been lost and are impossible to go back to. By dealing with such topics as the search for one’s identity and the reestablishment of an unreachable past, this book fully fits the exile literature genre. The main character’s journey takes on a metaphorical dimension and becomes an interior voyage in search of a link capable of making a lost reality and the depth of the character’s soul come together
