No full textThe names of every garment and accessory contribute to give shape to the mental representation of our personal and collective identi-ties: how can we comprehend and “read” this code? The processes of mea-ning in fashion discourse are connected to each other and must be analyzed together in order to understand their true relevance into the cultural and creative relationships. It is known that Barthes has shown that the fashion system is structured on different levels. The vesteme is a fundamental con-cept of his theory about the fashion system. It is the result of the intersec-tion of eight different axes (materials, size, colours, etc.) and four kinds of signifier/signified combinations (Barthes 1967). The theory of the Word Design (Rak-Catricalà 2013; Catricalà-Guidi 2014) starts from this idea to overcome the structuralist and socio-semiotic point of view and to examine the language of fashion through a cognitive paradigm. The key idea is that the verbal profiling (Langacker 2002) of the garments constructs and, at the same time, changes our perceptions and their valence like vehicle of com-munication. The paper is divided into two parts. The first describes the de-scription of the traditional models (sociological, anthropological and psy-chological too) of classification of the fashion terms, between the needs of similarity (clothing) and dissimilarity (fashion). The second presents some examples of garments names analysis based on the Word Design Theory (WDT), i.e. a new interface between the texts and the lexicon and the rhe-toric figures. The instruction-words/actions, the description-words/analogy and the narration-words/metaphors outline various semantic and pragma-tic contexts and are linked to different types of environment and affordance

No full textIl libro raccoglie gli Atti dell'omonimo Convegno Nazionale tenuto a Roma presso il Museo Boncompagni-Ludovisi il 10 dicembre 2003. Nelle pp. 7-10 Il filo del discorso, si illustra il progetto di ricerca sul linguaggio della moda, e nelle 133-158 è pubblicato il saggio di catricalà maria Il catalogo Bocconi: vestirsi per corrispondenza a fine '800.
Il filo del discorso della moda e sulla moda si intreccia, da sempre e in tutte le culture, con le trame delle arti, della letteratura, dell’iconografia e del patrimonio linguistico. Ed è per l’appunto attraverso la disamina di particolari forme testuali e contestuali della nostra tradizione, che questo volume mira a recuperare i nodi tematici che si imbastiscono tra i linguaggi vestimentari italiani e varie modalità espressive, differenti modalità di composizione e alcuni specifici mezzi di comunicazione di massa. Dalle effigi delle monete alle pitture, dalle opere letterarie e teatrali agli spettacoli circensi, dai cataloghi e dalle riveste, ai brevetti e ai siti internet, tutte le più varie fonti prese in considerazione qui, vengono rivisitate come trama e ordito di antiche tradizioni estetiche, di stili creativi e di saperi tecnologici.
Particolare attenzione è rivolta all’habitus scrittorio che i comunicatori, gli operatori economici e gli addetti della moda devono saper indossare tra i moderni scenari della glocalizzazione, tra vecchi e nuovi tessuti, drappeggiate pieghe verbali e damascate partiture.

Etnosaperi a rischio d’ estinzione e questioni metodologiche: il lessico dell’abbigliamento in Calabria
No full textIl contributo offre un primo esempio di analisi dello Spacial Clothing Corpus che analizza il lessico e la morfologia dell'abbigliamento in termini di mapping cognitivi legati alla dimensione spaziale e agli Image Schema. Si analizzano qui in particolare i termini dei costumi calabresi registrati nell'inventario ms Loria (1° Mostra etnografica - Roma 1911), che è conservato presso il Museo Nazionale delle Arti e Tradizioni popolari di Roma.
Alcune classificazioni e ricerche etimologiche dimostrano come il vestema dei costumi tradizionali appartenga agli etnosaperi, intesi come patrimoni codificati di informazioni cui non abbiamo più accesso diretto e che risultano pertinenti rispetto alla dimensione geografica, sociale e culturale
CDKN2A novel mutation in a patient from a melanoma-prone family
No full textCDKN2A Is thought to be the main candidate gene for melanoma susceptibility. Deletion or mutations in the CDKN2A gene may produce an imbalance between functional p16 and cyclin D, causing abnormal cell growth. We here describe a novel mutation consisting of a 1 bp deletion at nucleotide position 201 (codon 67) (CACGGcGCG) resulting in a truncated protein (stop codon 145). The patient, a female subject from a melanoma-prone family, presented at the age of 47 years with a superficial spreading melanoma of the trunk. Her father had colon cancer at the age of 43 years and melanoma at 63 years, her uncle suffered from gastric cancer, and her grandfather had laryngeal cancer. (C) 2001 Lippincott Williams & Wilkins
What dermoscopy tells us about nevogenesis
No full textThe evolution of nevi is a complex process involving several constitutional and environmental factors. Although histopathology is the gold standard for the diagnosis and classification of melanocytic nevi, the widespread use of in vivo diagnostic technologies such as dermoscopy and more recently of reflectance confocal microscopy, has enriched profoundly our knowledge regarding the morphological variability of nevi in different stages of their evolution. In addition, significant progress has been made in our understanding of genetic alterations and molecular pathways involved in the formation of melanocytic tumors. All this newly acquired knowledge increasingly questions whether morphologically different nevi are also histiogenetically different. In this article, we intend to extract some of the salient points from published clinical and molecular studies on melanocytic tumors and attempt to assimilate them into an integrative concept of nevogenesis
