Motivi letterari nei libri per l’infanzia di Paolo Di Paolo
The article, organised in the form of a discussion, aims to analyse the themes and motifs of Paolo Di Paolo’s works that are addressed to young audiences. The author has recently published a large number of volumes directed just at younger readers. When beholding the titles that constitute the author’s bibliography, the reader is struck by Di Paolo’s predisposition to transform literary classics: as much in Giacomo il signor bambino as in the edition of the Divina Commedia, the author’s goal is to try to reach his new readers. Therefore, Di Paolo proves to be a prolific author of the genre; in fact, in his bibliography, volumes of fairy tales with a classic slant, such as La mucca volante, are listed as well.L’articolo contiene un’analisi di temi e di motivi delle opere di Paolo Di Paolo dirette al pubblico più piccolo.
At first sight, obsessivity and depression seem to be two different phenomena, even opposite in some aspects. However, it is clinically common to find obsessive-compulsive features together with depressive symptoms: Whereas the discriminant power of self-report questionnaires for obsessions and compulsions is not very high when Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders and Major Depression are compared. However, clinical and biological studies suggest a clear discrimination between this two disorders. The psycopathological analisys allows both to understand the apparent analogies and to show the essential structural differences between obsessive-compulsive and depressive phenomena
Dimensional nosography of anxiety and mood disorders: The impact on quality of life [Nosografia dimensionale dei disturbi d'ansia e dell'umore: I'impatto sulla qualità di vita]
Aim of the study: To explore the relation between quality of life and the perception of own well-being on one hand, and the psychopathological dimension of affectivity, on the other hand, in a spectrum perspective and in a transnosographical point of view. Materials and methods: We considered 918 healthy subjects, to which we administered Q-LES-Q and spectrum questionnaires MOODS-SR, OBS-SR, SHY-SR, PAS-SR. Results: We first considered subjects with a single specific spectrum symptomatology. In the "Physical health/Activities" domain we found lower scores in subjects with a social-phobic or depressive spectrum; in the "Subjective sensations" domain we found lower scores in subjects affected by the social-phobic spectrum; in the "Work" domain we found lower scores in subjects with social-phobic and obsessive-compulsive spectrum; in the "School/ Scholastic activities" and "Spare time activities" domains all the spectra did not show differences in comparison with the absence of spectrum symptomatology, except for the mania spectrum that was associated with satisfaction levels significantly higher; in the "Social relationship" and "General activities" domains we found lower scores in subjects with social-phobic spectrum. In all the Q-LES-Q domains we found lower scores in subjects affected by four spectra. We found several and significant negative correlations between quality of life and spectrum symptomatology, especially as regards mood and social-phobic spectra. Conclusions: Our results underline the importance for clinicians and researchers to focus the attention and to aim the therapeutic intervention not only at the categorial disorder but also at the psychopathological dimensions, that may significantly compromise quality of life independent of Axis I and II disorders
The article examines - in the centenary of his birth - the "political thought" of Pier Paolo Pasolini.
Therefore, it scrutinizes (above all) his writings on society, but there are frequent incursions into the literature and especially into the cinema of this completely original author. What emerges is the depth of concepts often used by the poet to analyze and criticize the present: New Prehistory, new capitalism, consumerism, hedonism, Power, the Palace, the Process, development and progress, sacredness in primis. It also shows how Pasolini's eye and judgment were mainly guided by passion and only by reason. His homosexuality also played a significant role in his perception of reality. In the final part of the paper we analyze some technical tools used by the author to carry out his work of understanding the present and its consequent artistic-critical translation
Transparent bandwidth aggregation for residential access networks
We propose, implement, and evaluate a bandwidth aggregation service for residential users that allows to improve the upload throughput of the asymmetric digital subscriber line connection by leveraging the unused bandwidth of neighboring users. The residential access gateway adopts the 802.11 radio interface to simultaneously serve the local home users and to share the broadband connectivity with neighboring access gateways. Differently from previous works, our aggregation scheme is transparent both for local users, who are not required to modify their applications or device drivers, and for neighboring users, who do not experience any meaningful performance degradation. To evaluate the achievable performance and tune the parameters driving the traffic balancing, we developed a fluid model that was shown experimentally to be very accurate. Our proposed scheme is amenable to efficient implementation on Linux networking stack. Indeed, we implemented it and tested in some realistic scenarios, showing an efficient exploitation of the whole available bandwidth, also for legacy cloud storage applications

Activity of citalopram on adenosine and serotonin circulating levels in depressed patients
Citalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor used in the treatment of depression. Recent investigations have shown that it reduces in rat brain the release of excitatory amino neurotransmitters acid glutamate and aspartate by the involvement of the inhibitory neuromodulator adenosine. In this study, we described citalopram and serotonin levels in plasma and platelets, as well as plasma adenosine levels, in depressive patients during acute and chronic administration of citalopram. Twelve patients affected by Major Depression (DSM-IV) received a single oral dose of citalopram in the morning, 5 mg in the first 5 days, 10 mg from the 6th to the 10th day, and 20 mg from the 11th to the 40th day. Blood samples for citalopram, serotonin, and adenosine were collected at Time 0 and 4, 12 and 24 hours after drug administration on the first day of citalopram 5 mg, and on the first and the last day of citalopram 20 mg. Citalopram, serotonin, and adenosine concentrations in plasma increased after citalopram administration, and the highest levels were observed on the last day of treatment. Citalopram was detectable in platelets with concentrations showing a time variation similar to plasma values. Serotonin levels in platelets decreased after drug administration, reaching the lowest values on the last day of treatment
Possible involvement of opioid systems in obsessive-compulsive disorder: Psychopathological considerations [Possibile coinvolgimento del sistema oppioide nel disturbo ossessivo-compulsivo e relative considerazioni psicopatologiche]
The effects of exogenous opioids are completely opposite to anxiety symptomatology and suggest the existence of a relationship between opioid systems and Anxiety Disorders. The involvement of opioid systems in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is suggested by its analogy with other Anxiety Disorders and by the role of such system in disorders of the obsessive-compulsive spectrum (Tourette's Disorder, Substance-Related Disorders, Eating Disorders, Impulse-Control Disorders); some experimental evidence in patients affected by OCD and the effect of therapy with opioid agonists and antagonists further support this hypothesis. The involvement of endogenous opioids in Posttraumatic Stress Disorder is widely supported. Opioid involvement in Panic Disorder is suggested by pharmacological evidence, such as naltrexone-induced Panic Attacks; moreover, the opioid system may decrease activity of the locus coeruleus. Finally, patients affected by Generalized Anxiety Disorder have higher beta-endorphin plasma levels than controls, before facing stressful situations. Therefore, these data suggest a possible opioid involvement in core psychopathological aspects of OCD, related to pleasure and reward systems
