    I brachipodi delle calcareniti di Castro Marina (Lecce).

    Vengono studiate due successioni affioranti a Castro Marina (Lecce). I risultati di questa ricerca indicano, per tutte e due, un’età pleistocenica inferiore ed un ambiente Neritico Circalittorale, ma precisano anche notevoli differenze. - SEZIONE A – Gli organismi appartengono probabilmente ad una paleobiocenosi del Detritico Costiero infangato di profondità tra i -90 e i -150 m, che non ha subito trasporto. La successione si è deposta nell’Emiliano sui Calcari di Castro, in un clima temperato caldo. - SEZIONE B – E’ più recente (Siciliano) e costituisce una successione clinostratificata con evidenti segni di rimaneggiamento, connessa ad ambienti di profondità minore (da –50 a -90 m), in cui proliferavano associazioni di tipo foramol. Questi risultati confermano l’ipotesi di Tropeano et alii (2004) che li ritengono depositi di scarpata e di base di scarpata sottomarina
