THE LEGAL CONDITION OF THE DISABLED PERSON: EVOLUTION, PROBLEMS AND PERSPECTIVES
This essay analyzes the difficulties that can be found in the Italian legal system about the assessment of the legal condition of the disabled persons. These difficulties arise, especially, from the lack of a uniform definition of disability and an organic legislative regulation. There is a need to rethink the current legal system in a multidimensional perspective (shared in the international and supranational sources) in order to concretely guarantee that people with disabilities can live a life as autonomous (by enhancing their abilities) and independent (by supporting all the resources available on their territory) as possible. In this regard, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the recent draft law on disability are fundamental
Surrogacy and conflicting interests ["Gestazione per altri" e interessi in conflitto]
"Gestation for others" involves considerable doubts about its ethical and legal admissibility. The investigation is oriented, in particular, towards the distinction between "commercial" and "altruistic" surrogacy. Therefore, criticism is expressed about important sentences, which recognize in both of them a practice that "intolerably offends the dignity of women and deeply undermines human relations". Finally, attention is paid to the problem of the status to be recognized for children born abroad through this practice and to the problem of risks associated with PMA, that is, those identifiable with the undesirable effects on the health of the mother and the unborn child
The cognitive enhancement between ethics, deontology and rights [Il potenziamento cognitivo tra etica, deontologia e diritti]
Human enhancement raises many ethical, deontological and legal issues. However, the Italian Code of Medical Deontology has recognized its practicability, dedicating a specific rule to it (article 76). This decision has been widely discussed also in consideration of its non-compatibility with some European documents and with the Italian legal system. In this context, it is necessary to provide proper insights into this topic, because of its worrying consequences on an individual and social level. It is therefore claimed an interpretation abrogating article 76 of the Code of Medical Deontology, waiting for an abolition of this article by the National Federation of Doctors Orders Surgeons and Dentists

Adaptive distortions in the generator potential of semicircular canal sensory afferents
The generator potential in sensory afferents of frog crista ampullaris was extracellularly recorded from the cut end of the posterior ampullary nerve by means of suction electrodes. A servocontrolled turntable allowed suitable rotatary stimulations. The analysis of the recorded generator potential revealed a different time course from that predicted on the basis of the pendulum model. Adaptation and undershoots in the responses to velocity ramps, steps and sinusoids, were mainly responsible for the deviations, which became very evident only when fairly high acceleration rates were applied. Both adaptation and undershoots were produced presumably by the activation of an electrogenic pump, probably located in nerv terminals contacting the hair cells. In fact, the time course of the generator potential became much more consistent with the predictions from the pendulum model under treatments capable of hindering the ion pump activity
