Velocity fields in proximity of local exhaust hood openings: an intercomparison between current recommended formulas and experimental studies
No full textThis article is the second part of a previous paper [F. Cascetta, Building and Environment 31,
437449 (1996)] which illustrated the test facility in use, the measurement procedure, and fully
described the velocity fields in front of hood openings. A comparison between the main current
formulas available in the literature, and the experimental results collected by the authors, is
introduced and discussed. The predicted centerline velocities inferred from the recommended for-
mulas are compared with the ones experimentally measured by the authors, for both plain and
flanged,free-standing circular and rectangular exhaust openings. The velocity field outside the axis
of the exhaust hood is also presented. It was experimentally determined and is expressed in terms
of velocity contours

Futuro e prospettive nel settore degli “utility meters”
No full textIn questo articolo vengono sinteticamente ripercorsi gli sviluppi tecnologici che i misuratori di acqua e di gas hanno avuto negli ultimi anni. Dopo decenni di poche o scarse novità (gli utility meters di acqua e gas sono stai per lunghi periodi un prodotto tecnologicamente maturo e stabilizzato), il recente quadro normativo e legislativo (basti citare l’avvento della direttiva MID e quello della Delibera AEEG 155/2008) ha riportato una certa vivacità ed attenzione (sebbene con una tradizionale differenza a sfavore del settore acqua rispetto al più dinamico settore gas) nel settore del metering, ossia delle tecnologie di misura in uso nella filiera dell’industria dell’acqua e del gas.
Vengono quindi presentati i più recenti sviluppi in termini di innovazione tecnologica, per le reti distributive di pubblica utilità (acqua e gas), e vengono riportate alcune riflessioni in merito ad una necessaria maggiore attenzione verso la qualità e l’affidabilità delle misurazioni in questo settore così importante (per numerosità di installazioni e per dimensioni economiche)
