Letter from Emma Riggins to Amon Carter expressing sympathy at the news that his son, Amon, Jr., had been reported missing in action in North Africa.Mar 23rd 43 1936 Clybourn Ave Burbank Calif- My dear Mr Carter:- I have just learned of your recent trouble and want you to know I'm thinking of and praying for both you and Amon Jr. I think Mr Carter I can sympathize with you as few others can. In giving up my darling little by (Pete Burnett) was the worst blow I've ever had, and I won't ever get over it. I've had to work hard all my life, and have little of this worlds goods, but I feel rich in knowing I raised such a fine honorable boy as Pete was. I knew Amon Jr personally, as he came to my house a few times with Pete and I admired his frank honest way and this world will be the loser if he isn't returned to his Co soon. You have done so much for others, and in such a gracious manner, I feel our heavenly father will look after you and yours and I feel that your dear boy will soon be reunited with you. Believe me when I tell you I'm truly sorry for your and pray our father in heaven to bless you and give you strength in this sorrow. I'm in Calif for a while as my only daugher is here. But my heart is in Ft Worth and Texas and hope soon to be able to come home. Sincerely your friend- Emma Riggin
